Hi

Herrdude edited his post, wich had broken links, 14 minutes ago :)

As happened many times before: i complain, people get pissed but actually fix what i told them to. Just too much pride to answer :) that's my contribution to the thread i guess: we are still being useful while still acting like *******s.

The image on that post does not work on either disk utility or balenaetcher, i downloaded it from an external link that had it decrypted.
If i try to use diskutility to load the encrypted image i get OSStatus22 error . The one i was able to flash and use was a 33mb one.
To be precise, it had one link that needed to be fixed. Also, I wasn't pissed. Nor is it a question of too much pride to not answer you. This may come as a shock but I do not live on this post. And as such, I haven't had time to try out the new link (which is why I didn't say anything yet).

A little friendly advice, it would behoove you to put some water into your wine.

Wine and after water, please!

I think everyone that uses OpenCore package should take their time and go through the OC documentation and learn how to use it properly. Then update it on their own. Otherwise... Well, there are just too many variables that just one image can address, for all the various configurations that might be out there...

In the other news:

After a long busy time, I got to repair/upgrade a 4th iMac 27 2011 to K2100. Successfully... At least from a standpoint of getting boot and screen etc...I still have to do some work on the brightness etc, but that's the sweet piece now... ;)

One important piece of advice here is basically the same as with the AMD WX4170 and WX7100 - When you get the card put an electrical tape os other means of isolation on the side of the GPU opposite to the VRAM... Short fan spins and booting problem made me want to revise the possibility for shorts, and this resolved it for 3rd time now... This is a piece of work that is largely underestimated, but you really need to make damn sure that the GPU sits flash for cooling and that all SMDs are not touching anything...

Thanks for this goes to @Nick [D]vB for his rom.

BTW I understand from the first post that @nikey22 made another improved rom for K2100? @nikey22 I wasn't able to find it in your posts. Is it somewhere out there?

P.S. I have been a couple of months out and this thread is on its 464th page and 11580posts 😱😯 Wow

I have successfully installed a K5100m in my imac 27" 2011, but i have an issue with my Windows uefi installation as GPU-Z reports maximum clock frequency at only 324mhz. Vram clock is also set only 400mhz max.
Cuda-Z in OSX reports normail values (771mhz for gpu and 800mhz for vram)

Unigine Valley benchmark also reports about half the framerate compared to OSX.

I have Windows installed as MBR/Bios and i was getting an error at boot:
ERROR: Valid MXM Structure not found.
P-State Limited to P10

I have already tried to set Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance in nVidia Control Panel, with no improvement.

Any suggestions?
Hi,

I suffered the same issue back in July, the card wasn't boosting to P0, it was always stuck in P5 or lower, #8131 here you can check all the troubleshooting that I did at the time with some support from @nikey22 and I can report that the card is still running good and boosting till P0@836Mhz with the result explained here #8180. I still recommend you to begin reading from #8131 to #8180, good luck!

Cheers.

You are the very example of how, whenever i point to issues in the guides, the fix always comes after an arrogant answer from the other side.

I'v done my fair bit of hacking, bios modding and flashing, HW mods and also worked on githubs and forum threads related to all those issues. In this thread i pose valid questions and expose real issues and fixed some real bios errors. It's pretty normal for this kind of stuff to be hard for noobs, but the way this is laid out makes it hard even for me, no wonder the thread is flooded with basic questions instead of focusing on some deeper understanding of how those thing work.

After installing iMac 2011 27" to Catalina latest version on K2100M FaceTime camera has poor quality and resolution. System report says Model id: UVC Camera VendorID_1452 ProductID_34059. Any solutions to fix that?

Please add a signature to your account showing your hardware and please post this in the Catalina thread...we do not publish fixes for Catalina here. And be more precise by posting the real version number or your "latest Catalina" version.

Hi all, since two or three weeks I'm getting a reboots on the 27" 2011 running High Sierra with a K4100m installed.
In the console I found something GPU related. Does anyone got any idea what could be the cause of this?
Already did some search on Google and in this topic but couldn't find much related information.
Thanks in advance.

I've got your idea. thanks
19H2: This is not the latest version of Catalina! You need the gibMacOS utility to download the latest (19H15) and construct it from the several download files. Follow the instructions coming with the tool. Then in can be installed using the latest @dosdude1 patcher.

Do not know if it solves your problem but I can confirm that this new version runs on 2011 and 2009/2010 system with modded Metal GPU using the patches listed on post #1.

i am not interested in sound, we are investigating another problem, read more carefully
Thanks for coming back. I was just responding to the UEFI sound problem. But I am putting you to my personal ignore list - so I do not make the mistake to answer another time. It will be wasted live time I can happily invest in real interesting topics.

Thanks man. As far as i can understand i will need to unplug the ODD and check all other cabling.
sounds pretty easy :) I actually have the original iMac HD plus an SSD installed. The ODD in not working anymore, so i wont miss it :)

i also previously upgraded to an i7 2600 from a 2500s, so maybe all this stuff is just drawing too much power.

This is the answer I was looking for, thanks a lot! But also, do you know what could be causing TDM to not work? I'm even using a Magic Keyboard
Any news?

Edit: I'm also having bad overall GPU performance, can someone tell me if I missed connecting a sensor? ( iMac Mid-2011 27" K1100M i5 OpenCore 0.6.4 Windows 10 UEFI )

Hi all,

My K4100m finally turned up today so i decided to install it.... followed the instructions to a tee and got it working first time!I updated the GPU BIOS via the USB method (SD card in my case) only issue i ran into was i left my SSD plugged in so had to reach behind the screen to disconnect the SSD which got into the Linux updater.

Now to upgrade to Catalina

Thanks for all your hard work.

Tried the package installer found on the first page and seems to have solved the issue.
Are these patches overwritten by for example updating the macOS? The system has been running fine since the K4100 was mounted. If I remember correctly there was a High Sierra security update not so long ago so it could have been caused by the update.

Out of curiosity: Which of the installer packages did you use?

The black screen patch you posted some weeks ago, it's mentioned in the macOS common problems part.
Also noticed it needs to be done after every update, forgot about this. ☺️
Had no black screen issues but the reboots seem to have disappeared.

Never thought it may address even instability problems. But who knows...

Correction, it's in the NVIDIA part and not the common problems part.
Normally when logging in the colours are bit strange/ not 100% clear and to solve this I needed to go settings > screen change resolution to something else > change back to stock. There are several posts about this issue in the topic but the correct name you guys have for it doesn't come to mind now.

Well, after the patch / installer the log in screen was as usual still a bit weird but once logged in I didn't had to change the resolution as before, it was immediately good. Being in doubt I did the resolution thing and noticed no difference, normally I do.
