I do get it, I don't like spending alot of money on somethin that isn't effectively new or the latest. I intend to use the Edu Discount.

You can get THIS YEAR'S NEW model as refurb, the one that just came out.
As I mentioned, refurbs are the only ones guaranteed to be tested. Let me make it more clear on what that means.
When new iMacs are produced, only one out of every batch is tested. If that one has problems, then they check the entire batch. If that one doesn't have problems, they ship the whole batch without testing the rest.
So, you see, if you buy a new iMac, you probably will be buying a machine that hasn't been tested and it could potentially have issues. You can check this board to see what issues others have had. That doesn't mean you'll get a machine with problems, you might get a perfect iMac, but there is that possibility.
Since the refurb process requires that the machine is fully tested, you are, more or less, guaranteed a perfect iMac.
