We need SSD option! Do you hear itApple....
But the Mini is nice small. I connect enough peripherals to it as it is without adding a Thunderbolt drive.SSD will be t-bolt add on think lacie or sonnet tech.

Great!
Sure, but it would be nice if Apple finally offered a BTO config.
Ahh, I want to see the new mini now!![]()
I. Have virtually this set up and it works well. However a mouse is a bit awkward to use unsess you keep a flat surface next to you to use iot on. No problems with legibilityI have an ageing early 2006 Core Duo MBP and I'm looking to replace it......
So what if I got a new Mini, hooked up via HDMI to my 40inch 1080 HD Tv, use the wireless keyboard and either magic mouse or trackpad?
I would be sat approx 6foot from the Tv screen, is text and finer detail etc going to easily legible?
...

On one hand 2.5ghz would be disappointing when the 13" MBP has a 2.7.9to5mac have just revealed the (possible) new Mac Mini specs:

It should be ok I think. Worst case if everything is too small you can either just zoom in on web pages or lower the resolution to bump the whole interface size up. At 1080p would be ideal for clarity of course, and the extra screen space for those productivity apps.I have an ageing early 2006 Core Duo MBP and I'm looking to replace it.
I was aiming for a new MBP but have started considering a Mini instead. (much much cheaper).
I never take the current MBP out of the house (use the iPad on the go) I effectively use it as a desktop on a small table in front of me in the lounge. Then just close it's lid when not in use and watching Tv etc.

It would be used mainly for websites that require flash (general browsing I use the iPad), creation of Pages/numbers and Word/Excel documents. Is the definition going to be great enough for this?
In terms of raw processing power, I would also be using it for programs such as handbrake for DVD ripping and I make a lot of short 'movies' using iMovie, my old MBP is ageing in this regard, especially when using Handbrake where the process can take for ever. It's a 2.16 Core Duo 2GB ram. Would I notice much of a difference in raw power, I know I would if I had a new MBP but would I with the mini?
Am I thinking of something reasonable or am I barking up a completely daft tree here?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I would not mind an ssd option but I am thinking they will use the lack of it to force t-bolt purchases. I have read that they are going to make hdd's with apple software like imac hdds thus making hdd upgrades more difficult. I rather be completely wrong about this. Wait till later today.
If mini server is quad core I am ordering today! If the rumor is true lol
