Unrelated to the quote, there are some really super nice setups here (and some super goofy ones but to each his own!)

I'm always playing ping pong between computer setups, always Apple but I've been up and down the product lines. I think if I were to go non-laptop, it would be the mini.

I notice that I don't see any Apple displays though. Interesting. With the latest iMacs, it begs the question of whether they will update their Thunderbolt display.

I see more practicality of Mac Mini + Nice Display than of iMac due to the simple fact that it's easy to swap computers if you're one of those freaks like me that upgrades once or twice a year

Thanks. For me it was a case of already having 2 good monitors, so as much as I like the aesthetic appeal of the TBD I couldn't justify changing. The lack of height adjustability and NZ$1649 price tag also had a lot to do with it.

Thanks. So far it doesn't seem that different to Windows 7. Not as different as Windows 8 anyway.

Looking good. I've been on the lookout for an easy way to mount my mini out of the way on the back of my screen too, but no luck yet.

Thanks. While not attractive, since it's out of sight, you could try some double sided tape. That's how my Netgear modem is mounted below the Mini. ;)

Hehe thanks! I have not try that but i have strap all wires under the desk. One option is to hide the mini behind the screen

Here is my new setup..it is time to get some wireless speakers next ;) but these JBLs crank some serious sound. Also, my Canon printer is from my 08 MBP purchase but still gets the job done for my at home needs.

I wanted to keep the desk as clean as possible. So I had some scrap 1x6s in the garage so I tossed this together. Not the prettiest, but you don't see the Mini

I already posted on this thread a few days ago, but reworked my desk today (from a folding table to a proper desk, first actual desk I've had in over 5 years). The Mini is no longer stacked on top of my cable modem :) although I never ran into heat problems with that, now that my workspace is a little more organized it's no longer necessary to do that.

Excellent thread. A lot of interesting ideas for cable management and lighting.

Here are a few pics from my setup.
The Mini serves as an excellent audio source for an audio rig.
And yes, the headphone amplifier and DAC on the right are actually bigger than the Mini :D

Do you find your mini runs hotter at the back of the monitor on the backpack?????

Not as pictured. I realized I had the power supply on the bottom. I flipped it over so the PSU is on top. I still have the bottom cover away from the display. With the fan set at 2200 rpm and idle it now runs at about 48-50C. It was at 55 before I flipped it over. I can now run Handbrake and not have the fans blasting and it seems to settle in around 93C.
