I was considering a 2016 13" MBP, but then Bestbuy had a sale (2015 13" for $200 off). I saved myself some money, got a new computer, and do not have to worry about the keyboard. I have a MacBook, and I find the keyboard very hard to use and very loud. The new MBP seems a bit better, but still is very loud and not as good (imo) as the 2015 machine. I'm quite happy with the older MBP -- easy connectivity with USB-A, takes SDHC cards, and has two thunderbolt ports, a very good keyboard, and, as a machine that's been around for several years, no significant hardware issues (such as are reported here).

Sorry but the relevance of your post is...?

I received my replacement today, before this they tried to fix my previous purchase twice. Still no luck. The keyboard still makes same noise. Should I give up on them and return or settle with this keyboard?
The replacement is not newly manufactured it shows that it was manufactured on 5th of Dec 2016. My last laptop was built on 28th November.
So what I am guessing is they just gave me some returned or refurbished computer. :/
I am SAD :(

If you can stay without it, I would sit this one out for a few good months. There is clearly something wrong with these keyboards, too many examples (me included).

I would get your money back while you can and wait.

Maybe there's someone at the local Apple Store who can repair it as someone reported earlier today:

Hey all, so i went to apple support today and i showed few videos about the issue and also did some video rendering on spot to show them what keys where clicking. They wrote everything down and i left the shop. Then few hours they called me and said they have found the problem, they said something was sticking under the keys and that was causing the clicking sound. They also said that they might not be able to clean/fix it and might need to change the whole keyboard, but luckily it didnt come to that. So around 5 hours later they called me again and told me they couldnt reproduce that clicking sound on faulty keys and i went there to pick it up. So now i am here typing this on my fixed keyboard. So all of you who are returning it, just take it to local apple warranty shop and do the same i did. Peace

I bought a new 15" MBP on Christmas Eve. Within minutes of using the machine it exhibited this same key noise issue for the T key. I gave it a few hours of use to see if it needed to be broken in, but I didn't feel good about waiting longer for a laptop that shouldn't have a problem like this. I returned it and they gave me a brand new one, no issues. I told them about the keyboard issue.

Now I have the replacement and it's starting to do the same thing with the B key. It's only the B key. As others have described, it seems to happen most once the machine is warm. This is why nobody can ever make it happen when they get to the Apple Store (it's been on sleep and cooled down significantly).

If this doesn't go away I'm going to take it in for service, but this definitely sounds like some kind of manufacturing defect that isn't effecting everyone. Definitely annoying for a laptop that costs this much. I love this keyboard otherwise, though :(

Same issue here with 15". My 'X' key is having the issue. I noticed this when the system was heated. But even if it has cooled down and I tested several hours later, the same issue with X key.

Hi,

I called Apple Online Support and had exchanged some emails with a European Manager.

I forwarded him this post and another similar from Apple Communities. I sent him too a small video of my problem on 'A' key (only this key when heating).

He first said me that he needs some time to decide with his staff and engineers... After a week, he returns me that APPLE IS INFORMED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO KNOWN PROCEDURE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM !
He invites me to go in Apple Store and try "again" !

Unbelievable ! No more words...

I also exchanged mine 2 weeks ago (the $3,499 model), and I received a fresh replacement and I still hear the clicks.. I have until Friday to return it.. I think I may just return it and wait :(.

I really don't think this issue is that big of a deal. I've seen the videos and it's no issue IMO.

Glad to say my third MBP is great. Feels solid (no loose parts inside) and keyboard is not making any loud popping sounds (albeit uneven sounding due to the new design). Also, battery is performing as advertised and no graphics glitches seen. Manufactured 16 Jan 2017.

Did you return and order again or did they sent you a replacement?

It is an issue. Maybe if you experienced it you would realize it.

I can guarantee you that if you have this issue while using the keyboard in a library or quiet coffee shop, people will glare at you until you leave.

What is your manufacture date of this new one?

How can I check that? The old ways of lookup by serial don't seem to work for this machine.
[doublepost=1486050930][/doublepost]If you want to see what this sounds like:

T key (first MBP):

B key (current MBP):

Every other key is fine. Only a single key on both laptops has this issue.

Did you order from the website or get it in-store?

They very graciously sent me replacements while I continued to use the original order (from November 2016!). I shall keep the 2nd replacement and have now completed a manual migration.

Wrong. The sound would annoy you in a £299 laptop. Let alone a MBP at £silly

An update - I spent the past few days doing some heavy sound design and video editing work - lots of CPU/GPU use. Today, I noticed my S key no longer makes any clicking noises.

Hello,

After you intensively warm up the keyboard, this issues never happened again?

The sound of this ne keyboard, whether faulty or not, would drive me crazy in a quiet place like a library.

So I must be crazy but I decided to give the 2016 15" another try, it just shipped. So this time I'll have both the 2015 and 2016 side by side for a least 2 days before sending 1 back. I can't stop thinking about how great the 2016 display was over the 2015. I hope the keys are better than the other one I returned.

Okay, i'm talking with apple support right now. Either they return and send me a new BTO(build to order) or they're hooking me up with their repair department.
