I wish I was. Some of the features are great upgrades but with a low ball trade in value on my 12.9 2020 model and the magic keyboard not supporting the 2021 model, Ill have to pass on this model for now.

Can use the Magic keyboard! just can't close it all that well, on the 12.9" model

I’m still unsure though if I want the new iPad Pro from my 10.5. I just checked the battery health ( because Apple can’t be stuffed to put this feature on iPad compared to iPhone) at an Apple store and surprisingly the battery capacity is at 100%.

As long as it's an upgrade, I'll be fine with that. I just couldn't come to terms with the cost of the 12.9", or the fact that I don't believe I'll like holding it like I do the 10.5".

The 11” screen is no different than the 10.5” screen other than size. Same brightness, same contrast, same colors. The mini-LED is the first time Apple has changed the iPad Pro display since 2017 with the 10.5 and 12.9 models.

My 10.5 has white spot (who doesn't) and the battery is degrading. I so want to upgrade my but I keep coming back to the question mentioned by others, what will the upgrade bring in real terms functionality? I can't answer that question so will hold off until I can.

What’s the point then. It’s supposed to be portable.

point isn’t entirely lost

but I agree some is.
My Smart Keyboard for my 2017 12.9 is always in the usable mode it’s a float device for around my apartment. Rarely travel with it

I wasn't going to upgrade at all. I had an original 9.7 inch iPad Pro and that thing worked so well I couldn't justify a replacement even in 2021. Unfortunately, someone broke into my car and stole it two weeks before the event, so I caved and bought an 11" iPad Pro, 1TB. Curious to see how drastic the difference will be. The old 9.7 was no slouch

I'm going from 10.5" to 12.9", mainly to use more as a primary computer around the house.

I was using my partners iPad Air 4 the other day, and even though it doesn't have the promotion etc, the screen and feel of it was a lot faster than my 10.5, and before that I never had any issues or feeling my 10.5 wasn't powerful enough.

Think with the new display etc now is a good time to get onboard.

Now that it has 16GB of ram and an extremely fast desktop-class processor, something 'earth-shattering' from Apple would be if they took the chains off that device and allowed it to actually perform real multitasking.

Nah, that's a dream too far.

It seems the onus for software that takes advantage of the M1 is being placed entirely on Apple. How about the developers? Remember, the iPad was only announce a couple of weeks ago, and it's likely most developers don't yet have M1 iPads to build around. Give it time, it might take months, years before we have lots of applications that take full advantage of the new iPad's power.

We may get some announcements of future software releases at WWDC. Whether it's from Apple or third party developers, a bit of patience is required.

I have the 2017 iPad Pro 10.5“, 256 GB, and am upgrading to the 12.9“ Pro, 512 GB.

My current one is still in good shape, and the battery life isn’t too bad, but I just felt that now is the time for an upgrade. I usually upgrade iPads every 4 years or so. (The iPad before that one was the original Air.)

Is there is much to do to build specifically for M1 as compared to the A14, etc?

My understanding is the M1 is backwards compatible with the A14. But in order to take advantage of M1's full computing power, the application needs to be recoded accordingly. e.g. We are only just now seeing M1 software being released for the MacBook.

Funny stuff. There’s hardly anything that taxes a 2017 iPad much less the a14 I mean m1. Whatever you wanna call it.

Absolutely. I’m coming from the 10.5 cellular and I have the white spot AND distorted sound coming from the speakers when the volume is turned slightly up. Other than that it’s fine. I’m looking to sell and it looks like I can get $250+ on eBay even with the issues.

I preordered the 12.9 cellular through VZ and I’m excited about the large screen! I cannot wait to watch YouTube on this thing on the go. After 4 years I’m finally upgrading.

im On the fence. The 12.9 price is just to much. I’m eyeing the 2020 models.. I’d they hit 800 for a 12.9 i May pull the trigger.
Costco has it for $799 right now. And they will give you a $100 off coupon code if you ask for one. They sent them out to certain customers and I didn't get one but I asked through the chat and got it. I'm on the fence now for $949 for the 2021 or $699 for the 2020 version. Tough choice.

I went with the M1 11 inch. But if I were looking for the 12 I’d get the 2020.
