2017 iPad Pro owners - Will you upgrade in 2018?

I purchased my 10.5” iPad Pro in June 2017, but honestly think I may well upgrade if the 2018 models do come with Face ID.

Any others who recently purchased an iPad Pro considering the same? Or would that not be worth it?

The only reason I kept my 9.7” Pro was because I had a feeling a major redesign was coming in March or June 2018. Just think. And I’ll leave out the HDR OLED Display.

#1. A11X 6 or 8 Core CPU
#2. Low power DDR4 RAM
#3. New LG Chem Lipobattery
#4. Apple Pencil 2
#5. Improved 120hz ProMotion
#6. Redesigned body thinner lighter
#7. Face ID
#8. Dual Yes Dual Cameras
#9. Possible glass back and wireless charging but hoping not
#10. Bluetooth 5.0 finally.

No. My iPad Air lasted me 4 years. Pro 10.5 should do at least 4, maybe even 5 or 6 =)

OLED could be convincing... but I think thats already bust and off the table.

Obviously, being "worth it" is highly subjective and depends upon a variety of factors.

If Face ID is important to you then it sounds like a 2018 model with would be a worthy upgrade for you. Though if you paid full MSRP for that 10.5 Pro, expect a wide gap between the resale value of that 10.5 and the cost of a new one.

For me, Face ID is a gimmick... change for the sake of change. But that's me, clearly others see value in it.

I've owned my 12.9 Pro for nearly 2 years and the things that would cause me to consider a new iPad are things that Apple will never do so I'll be on this iPad for the foreseeable future.

If the iPad has facial recognition and no home button, then yes

I doubt it, I just got this one, and I’m in love. :) The only thing I’ve been wondering is whether I should have gotten LTE, but so far my tethering experience has been fantastic, and I don’t use the Pro without WiFi often enough to pay a monthly charge.
 
Only if Apple decided to make a 11.5-inch version or shrinks down the bezels on the 12.9 so it physically becomes smaller in the hand. The 10.5 is too small for my liking but the 12.9 is not enjoyable to use in bed. I would often lay my 9.7 iPad Air next to me when sleeping (I watch videos to help me fall asleep), and I’m scared the 12.9 will fall out of bed.

no I would not upgrade
 
Yes. Face ID and no home button—that’s what I’m looking forward to. My first tablet was Air2 64gb which I had for 2 years. This year I upgraded to Pro because I fell in love with Apple Pencil, Pro-Motion, and using the Pro with Smart Keyboard plus iOS11 as a 50% replacement for my MBP. Now I have iPhone X and immediately fell in love with the user experience of Face ID and no home button. So, I’ll be one of those who will readily upgrade to the rumored 2018 iPad Pro.

If the chromebook Pro were 11.5+/- instead of 12.3, I'd be all over it. It's a great device.

Actually I'm more impressed with OS Chrome and running Android Apps ........ The 64GB Pro was picked up at BB for $500, and it also impresses me at that price. As stated when looking for real portability I go with the LTE Mini.
 
Apple pioneers and develops technology superbly. But it’s also expert in marketing and psychology to convince you that what you have is old and untrendy, and that you need to buy again every year. How people react or succumb to this is the question. So far, going well.

It is a gimmick on the phone; it would seem to be an actual impediment on the ipad.

Anyone else seeing the chromebook as an ios laptop precurser. C'mon Apple...take the plunge.

No, I don’t think so.

The iPad Pro 9.7 was everything I ever wanted in an iPad. I had no intention of getting the 10.5 but had noticed the 9.7” display getting cramp. I had the funds so I upgrade after just a heat (atypical for me).

The 10.5 refine everything I loved about the 9.7. The display looks painted, the RAM has doubled and is now on par with thier top end iOS devices, the slight bump in screen size in essentially the same body and the 120 refresh rate culminated in a better tablet experience than I imagined for me.

I don’t pick my iPad up in short bursts constantly so Touch ID is preferred for me, the bezels don’t bother me personally, and the A10X is fast. Sure, i’ll Be envious of the A11X, but I feel like my device will be suffient for a few years.

I think 2020 will likely be my next upgrade. By then the A13X, Apple Pencil 2/3, and updated display will make a solid update.
 
As soon as it has an OLED screen, HDR, Face ID, and iOS supports multiple user profiles.
 
The Pro 12.9, I probably won't upgrade. I'm hoping for a 326 ppi Pro 10.5 before upgrading from the Pro 9.7.
