iPad 2017 new ipad geeek bench 4 results

I don't think it'll be available in retail stores today. Both Best Buy and Apple Stores in my area don't show it as available for store pick up.
Reviewers will rate it for what it is; a lower cost entry level iPad for people who don't need "Pro" features. I think it's a pretty decent upgrade for anyone coming from the Air 1 or older.
I would agree. I personally have no appreciation for the Pro features aside for the quad speakers. I was wanting to upgrade my iPad and I was primarily seeking a speed increase. With this new price point of the 9.7 and the Added A9, coupled with ten hours of battery, its a win situation for me and others.
At this price point, it's fairly affordable for those who are not interested in a $600.00 iPad for features that may or may not be used.
think of it has a iphone SE the did the same with the new ipad but you get a biger screen size
Somewhat surprised/annoyed that Apple made people wait until a specific time on Friday before they could order, only for them to find that they can't deliver for almost two weeks anyway.
Interesting. Looks like delivery times have already slipped. Yesterday morning, it was showing delivery on 3/30-3/31.
Really? Which region? I checked shortly after 3pm yesterday when the UK store went live and the delivery window was set for the 5th/6th April. The app does say it ships within 2 business days though which is curious.
California, USA. I checked at 8AM Pacific and again around lunch time. Maybe the US is getting the new iPads first?
By the way, right now on US website, Free Standard Shipping shows estimated delivery of April 5-6. The 2-3 Business Day shipping ($10) shows estimated delivery of April 3-4.
I don't get the Apple greedy part and i'm one who's owned Apple computers and iDevices since 2001 and have no love lost for Apple. It's a big company who looks out for itself.
Apple finally has gotten the wake up call that "tablet sales" are and have been on the decline. The phenomenal growth of the original iPad is OVER. People are no longer buying tablets like they used to. Android tablets are being sold for as low as $25 and even Amazon is selling the Fire tablets in a 6 pack. Apple has finally figured out what the market has been telling them that tablet sales are not what they used to and probably will NEVER be again.
So they are now doing what Amazon decided to do. They are cost cutting and lowering the price on their tablets in hope of driving sales. Nothing wrong with that. And btw the 2017 iPad regardless of the specs is a nice deal for a quality tablet at a fair price.
The only real growth in today's tech world are Phones and so Apple has decided to put it's eggs in that basket so that's what gets the latest specs and ultra premium pricing. What's happening to the iPad line is the reason why we no longer see yearly releases of Mac computers (Mini, iMac, Mac Pro).
So I have no problems with the recently released iPad and who knows how well the iPad Pros have been selling. Maybe sales have not been what Apple was hoping for. So we may see fewer updates to the Pro line going forward.
There is nothing 'Pro' about the 'Pro' line. i have the 12.9 and it does the same as my iPhone SE but bigger. Unless it utilises a new OS its still a blown up iPhone after all these years.
Apple smart, apple realise most don't register on forums and get all fanatical about new gadgets. The iPad will sell and sell well. Sales have declined as most have one. I know my wife's friend has an iPad 2. This iPad is a great upgrade for her. 80/90% of the population will question the expensive iPads. I would have one as a friend to my 12.9 no sweat if i was in the market to do so.
Maybe best posted in a general section but we are near peak specs and peak innovation bar gimmicks. Thats how it is.

Agreed. If it uses a new os perhaps then ill fork out money for the pro. I dont mind spending money on hp workstation but a 'pro' ipad, no thanks.
Well over the past two years I've come to prefer the iPad as my main computing device for about 99% of my computing. I'm in high school so my computing needs aren't complex to begin with, mainly I'm taking notes, writing documents, importing/exporting/annotating PDF's and doing heavy web browsing/redditing. The iPad Pro would further refine the experience of my current uses as well as the fulfilling the 1% that I currently do lean to my MacBook Pro for. That 1% is mainly note taking, currently most notes I use a iPad for, are only typing which isn't suitable for all my classes as some things like math are just not typable. The Pro's Pencil would fulfill my need to take handwritten notes in the select few of my classes. The bigger size of the 10.5 or 12.9 inch model would also just allow more breathing room working on a document while annotating/referencing a PDF at once and bigger canvas for note taking, something I find the Air 2 9.7inch slightly too cramped for currently, Split View was designed with 12.9 inches in mind. Not to mention the Pro's Smart Keyboard which provides a very simple keyboard to top it all off. I'm not saying the Pro is for everyone but just stating that for some people it is the ideal computing device. I know not everyone would think $800+ on a iPad is practical but honestly I'd prefer it over spending more on a new MacBook Pro that I'd use for the rare occasion a iPad wouldn't fulfill my needs. That's what my 2012 MacBook Pro is for but hey enjoy that Hp Workstation
Hi yes. You are right. For some people it is a great product for others it is not.
Nothing made by apple now uses anything near "the latest specs". The company is two years behind, yet so many think that releasing a new colour phone is some sort of leap forward. I use apple and like the quality, but anybody who thinks it is cutting edge technology needs to have a hard look at themselves and wake up.
In this case, I think the storage speeds from the A9 generation that are not as easily quantified matter more than the GeekBench results.
