my iPad pro 12.9 2018 no longer charges with any usb-c to usb-c cables it but it charges fine with a type-a to type-c cable in a 20w brick ! this is a widespread problem and its unbelievable apple doesn't make a recall program for this / i work in a repair shop and i had about 30+ customers who came with this exact problem some 2 months old some older told them we cant fix it i really don't know what this is but its bigger than we think / my problems started about 6 months ago and started killing itself about a month ago i really want to hear from other people with the same problem

I had that issue a few months ago with a 2018 iPad Pro 11.
Trying all kinds of different apple chargers and wires would not help and it would be stuck at 1-7% (7 once I left it overnight despite showing it was disconnecting from the charger and reconnecting constantly).
I had given up on it until in a last ditch effort I connected it with a generic 5w charger and a generic usb C wire and to my surprise it started charging normally without disconnections. It works fine since and after charging to 100% it can now accept any charging source again. But I’m keeping that generic 5w charger in mind in case this happens again.

Mine worked with a USB A to USB C charger and wire if you haven’t tried that. And it was a non Apple charger of 5W. Used for iqos ecigs not that that should matter.

I have to talk about my solution, if you are in China like me, you will know that this is already a recognized design flaw of the 2018 ipad pro, because Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen, China is the most powerful electronics market in the world, you You can even use ten dollars to replace your airpods with a brand new battery. I went to fix my 2018ipad pro today. According to what Huaqiangbei said, the 2018ipad pro has a design defect. If you use it for a long time For third-party chargers that exceed 20w, the motherboard power chip will be damaged. Today I spent thirty dollars to repair it, and now it works fine
