As someone else hinted, I think eliminating the white bezel was purely an aesthetic decision by Apple. It's one thing to have a white bezel with one camera lens that looks like a hole in the bezel. It's another thing to have a white bezel with several "holes" grouped together in one end of the device. I think they just decided that just wasn't a great look and stuck with the black so the lenses will be largely invisible.

I agree. For many years I was a white guy! White iPhone, white iPad etc. Though after using my brothers black iPad 10.5 and I got the Silver iPhone X which a black screen, I suddenly became aware of how big it made the screen since you didn't notice the edges as much anymore

I brought the Silver iPad Pro 11", the part of it for me as I like lighter colours, but I also found the antenna lines are less noticeable in the silver than the space grey.

does anyone know if the wifi only versions still have those dark gray cellular bars on the back. i havent seen any without them, but wondering why they would still be ther on the wifi only version

The WiFi model has one on top. Not on bottom. Cellular has too and bottom

Silver to match my iPhone and MBP! Happy as well that there are no more white bezels.

White fan here. More of us out here than you may think. White bezel is the traditional Apple color, and to me looks clean, simple, and light. Black electronics are everywhere, so for me something different.

This 100%. White and silver aluminium is traditional Apple and I’d never get bored of it. My XS Max is my first black-fronted iOS device since the iPhone 4

I ordered Space Grey. Also found out today that I could have gotten a $50.00 education discount. Apple said I could cancel my current order to reorder and get the discount. But here’s the thing, I missed getting it delivered on the 7th and my delivery now is the 13th. If I cancel my order and reorder, it will put it even later for delivery.

Finally stopped procrastinating and have just ordered 11" silver, 256 Wifi + cellular, plus the keyboard.

Silver looks more vintage and retro
Probably why I prefer it (since I'm getting to be a bit vintage and retro myself!) Silver is also better with scratches I think - look more like 'character' than damage :)

I'm torn between the two but leaning towards Space Gray. Since iPad 2, I've always had silver/white, then later gold/white, rose gold/white. I dig the black fronts on the iPhone X and now my XS Max though -- looks better when watching movies and gaming.

Since I didn't preorder, I'll probably go for whichever is available if there's a shortage color-wise, as long as it's 256gb/wifi model, and get the Charcoal Gray SmartFolio. They both look great to me, but I do like the Space Gray a tad more.

Silver for me  I was hoping for gold to match my XS Max ... but my iPad will always have a case on it ;)

I'm sold on the silver now. Lol though at this point I'm waiting to see both sizes and colours in store on wednesday.

I always had white/silver iPhones and iPads but last year i went for a space grey iphone x and loved sit so this year i have one for space grey to go with my space grey max

I have the space grey but returning today to get silver as the space grey is the really dark one that almost looks like black and I find that, even at 12.9” I have a hard time finding it at night in darker lighting as it just blends into the background. If it were the lighter space grey of the prior gen, I’d keep it.
