Already it seems we will have again a powerhouse

it's going to launch on Oct. There will be no Macbook events anymore in the future except for announcing a brand new MacBook product line.

I do think we’ll see one soon.

When do you think we’ll get new iPads then?

the CAD image is from the same source like the last month...so i still believe more MNG CHO COCO more
King Chi Kuo didn’t release the case or CAD info, he simply said this year we’d get upgraded 11” and 12.9” iPad pros with Face ID, the “iPad case” was “leaked” by an anonymous source.

So you think the CAD is real??

A real CAD yes, but many CADs in the past were released for iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks... but not all of them were accurate. Some were essentially prototypes, this CAD seems too odd to me. The whole iPhone SE side designs in that image don’t make sense,
as that’s going backwards and usually Apple doesn’t reuse designs when releasing new products.
I imagine the iPad Pro will be a mix of the Pros we have now, with some iPhone X/6/7/8 rounded edge designs, water resistance, and all glass front with the smart connector still in place. The rumor of moving the smart connector has been the oddest and most unrealistic thing in any rumor we’ve had thus far.
It physically isn’t practical to have the iPad stand up in portrait mode with a keyboard, it’s too tall.

My opinion is September at the iOS event along with iPhones and the watch. One more thing will be the low cost MBA. A perfect lineup for last minute back to school.

Everything else will be a silent update or press release in October. 2019 should be the year of OSX with a redesigned iMac, modular scale able Mac Pro (all the way from mini to workstation) and a redesigned ARM based Apple TV sized Mac mini for the true low end. Again, all my opinion I was pretty wrong with my WWDC predictions. If it happens it happens. If it doesn’t, it’s a gadget and my current set up will work just fine until the inevitable release.

Rubbish.

Portrait keyboard simply isn’t happening. IF the smart connector moves to the vertical side there will be a redesigned keyboard that wraps up the back. Perhaps more lap ability and viewing angles.

If that pill shaped thing is real it could also be an all new connector. Pencil 3 charger?

Yeah it’s going to happen this year. Too many rumors now - to paraphrase, there’s no smoke without a fire.

But where is there smoke? Yes, some hints in iOS 12 that point to a Face ID equipt iPad. But that doesn’t constitute a release date.

It just means the device will come out some time before iOS 13.

There have been zero parts leaked from the factory. No blurry shaky photos from Foxconn. No screen leaks, no shells.

Only one case so far has leaked, and case makers are always known to be premature with their molds.

I want a new pro as bad as anyone else, I just don’t think we are going to see it any time soon.

Well you just pointed out some smoke (rumors). But I will grant you, it doesn't guarantee any release date within 2018.

Actually case leaks are very strong evidence it's coming. It's not trivial to scale production of cases if you aren't reasonably certain of the shape of the device. Recalls are expensive. However, as you say, there aren't really that many strong case leaks.

I want a new pro as bad as anyone else, I just don’t think we are going to see it any time soon.

Here's the interesting part. I don't really want a new Pro. I want better software. The iPad Pro as it is, is powerful enough, but - for example - there's simply no equivalent to Capture One Pro or even Apple's own Final Cut Pro. Apple needs to start conditioning iPad Pro audiences to pay more for apps and giving incentives to "pro" app developers to expand the market.

e.g. As a Web developer, there's no decent NodeJS IDE / simulator for me to code on, although there are decent code editors - but I really need to compile / execute my code and see live changes. There are ways around it (SSH, VNC etc.) but that makes the iPad Pro a dumb terminal.

It's possible I'm not in the target market for the iPad Pro as a "pro", but it makes me want to reach for a MacBook too often. I really want to use the iPad more, but if it's just for games / consumption, I really want an updated iPad mini.

There won’t be any, the size of the iPad Pro makes it very difficult, there wasn’t any case leaks (pictures) for the original iPad Pro or last years update. Just because thr iPhone leaks doesn’t mean other things will, the iPhone is the most popular and they tend to look for that.

The iPad Pro 3rd gen will happen this year, Mark Gurman has confirmed it! Read his latest article.

Apple is currently running a back to school sale which ends on 2nd October and does include iPad Pros (it’s the sale with the free Beats). Does anyone think that makes it less likely they will release one in September?

No worker is risking prison time to smuggle out an 11-inch chassis just to satisfy a small group of people.

Apple isn't going to put iPad Pro assets in iOS 12.0 beta unless a launch is imminent. Apple develops parallel builds of iOS when they need to test an unreleased product. We saw that last year with the leaked HomePod firmware. It was based on iOS 11.0.2 when iOS 11.0 hadn't been frozen.

Both Kuo and Gurman are almost bulletproof. If they're both saying it's coming out this year, you can bet on that.

Despite all these unofficially-confirmed “confirmations” I will remain non-hopeful.
The universe and I have been playing a game for over 3 decades. The Universe always breaks my dreams or meddles with my wants, *especially if I have hopes when it comes to fun things like this.
I can say I like the pictures and info from these “unconfirmed... confirmations”. ;) lol
