Lol, seriously though, people must get what suits them best, you cannot go wrong with either iPad, just ensure you know WHY you are buying that iPad. If you buy iPads simply to have the largest number in the A series chip name you are going to be forever unhappy ? and will probably be waiting until you are dead because every year technology improves.

The same people who are waiting for A14X and MiniLED will then find something else that “I must wait for it” right after that iPad Pro is announced because some months down the line a higher number will be put on the following A series chips and “OMG they put A15 in Air 2021, now iPP with A14X is no good” lol.

For me, I got very close to simply getting an iPad Air 2019, then the 2020 iPad Pro arrived and I sat down and looked at what I need and want. I needed a new iPad as the battery in my Air 2 was literally needing to stay on the charger to stay alive and no retailer was stocking the Air 2 batteries, also I could tell the Air 2 seems to be nearing EOL, but I also wanted an iPad that will be supported as long as my Air 2 was, support for Apple Pencil 2 and larger screen, so I weighed up the 2019 Air hardware to the 2018 iPP and 2020 iPP and the decision to me was clear:
- The bump to 6GB RAM after 5 years of 4GB RAM on Pros signaled longevity in the 2020 iPP- TICK!
- Bigger screen versus the Air while staying near the same size (I went with 11inch) meaning it’s not a huge change - TICK
The 120hz screen was a great added bonus that I now want I all my future iPads along with the 4 speakers and dual cameras with LiDAR.

FaceID has become that unexpected gift that keeps on giving in the iPad Pro to, I can never go back to TouchID on ipad again because a lot of the time I have it propped up next to my laptop and have a BT keyboard, so all I do when a notification comes in is look at my iPP and it unlocks and i control it with the touchpad on my keyboard :D one of those little things that has become a real creature comfort. I cannot stand my Air 2’s TouchID anymore lol.

I need a new iPad at work and waited for the Air to be announced. Unfortunately for the office (but good for me) I can't wait so I ordered the 2020 11" pro and am really looking forward to using the hell out of it.

I seriously doubt Touch ID will cause any issues with your left hand because Apple has pretty stringent accessibility and human-interface guidelines they adhere to. Activating it isn‘t a precision task, you just put your finger on it and press. Should be no harder than controlling a dimmer wall switch with your left hand.
You mean like having to lift your arm to press the back arrow from the top of the screen when using the iPad. ?

That is not an example of precise manipulation, drawing on a track pad is. Tapping a screen target is no harder than pressing the Esc key or flipping a wall light switch with your left hand.

Nah. I've got a laundry list of things I want: 1TB storage, more RAM, faster and more efficient chipset, and 5G.

The 2018 iPP checked off most everything on my wish list but the price was shocking at the time. $1699/1899 for 11/12.9 1TB cellular when the previous gen top configs were just $1079/1229 for 10.5/12.9. The $600 increase was a bitter pill to swallow.

Next year, with likely still no movies and no vacations, the higher price tag will be easier to accept.

That’s a good way to justify buying more Apple gear. ?

Honestly, I’ve probably spent a lot less on dining out, and travel these past 4 months, due to the pandemic.
We've still been doing take out but yeah, my share for vacation costs used to be $2.5K/year. That went to upgrading a couple of desktops and laptops this year.

and if it somehow would, turn the device 90 degrees and the problem is solved

That's kind of a hassle, especially if you are using the keyboard. I just check with my iPP and when hand-holding it in landscape I can easily reach the power button with my index finger.

Considering there really hasn't been a bunch of "I cant operate the back button with my left hand" complaints, I doubt the new TouchID an issue for right-handed people.

I seen the “BendGate” thing was mentioned. There was reports of the 2018 models coming bent, but there really hasn’t been reports of the 2020 doing that.
Its the same design as the 2018, bendgate will happen to the 2020. I have the 2020 with applecare+ so maybe when mine bends, apple will own up to the defect and not charge an accidental.

Apple can keep the same design while reinforcing the inside surfaces of the case.

Right, but they didnt. I think JerryRigsEverything and another youtuber did a durability and breakdown video and showed it was the same.
