This has been a great year! Are you going to upgrade your iPhone next year with us?
I hope to every year I say I love my new one and may skip but apple always does something (especially with cameras I use) that gets me. So I never say never any longer. Likely to be back since being in iUP lets me as a apple techie nerd play with new phones every year. So likely to be back although opening preorder day always is a a bit tense LOL

As a storm spotter and weather nerd (retired geologist and paleontologist) I like Radarscope (two paid levels) tons of radar features including velocity and such the most common storm chaser used iOS app and weathermate (free with tons of info using local stations in my town with tons of data (depoint, humidity, winds and much more)

If you haven't yet, you and @Wxchaser might need to have a convo

this thread is 600 pages long on mobile. no one can read them all.

if the top of post 1 were edited to address this concern it would probably help.

i did read all of post 1 and was able to track by reference, but UPS seems to have helpfully removed most of the relevant info when returning a reference search result. so all i can see is the last 4 digits of the tracking number and the fact that the phones are supposed to be delivered by 7pm friday.

given that, how are people figuring out the flight numbers?
We use FlightRadar24, FlightAware and some are even listening to Air Traffic Control. We know the route, ZZ to Incheon to Alaska to Louisville, KY (UPS World Port). Then we compare arriving / departing Flight #s and Tail Numbers of Aircraft (UPS) and match those to departure and arrival scans in the UPS app as they populate. You need to have the full UPS Tracking number attached/linked to your UPS MyChoice account in order to see the full number. UPS links the tracking number to your Apple Order number (Minus last 2 digits) or your 10-digit phone number that's on file w/ the order.

Tracking is just about done as the second plane of phones is in air to KY now. Once it import scans at KY UPS World port, it should full populate the tracking number in UPS and Apple will send you a shipping confirmation e-mail with a tracking link. You can then do the same routine above to track your flight from KY to your local airport and on to the Customer Center and to the very truck.

Was sure I would hold my phone at the UPS hub close to my house but just noticed they are only open from 12-4. Is this a new thing, or is this just my local UPS hub. That is a short window.

Thank you @julit0 You rock!

@joeblough See the above post, please. Thank you! I'm sorry for the hassle.

I think it gets fed via the data feed from DarkSky which was always pretty stinking reliable. We'll see how it does in everyday usage.
Well will have to look at it closely. Weather mate has lots of data also. And it used a bunch of local sensors in my home town area so I can see for example variations in temperature across our twin cities of 130K plus. Nice radar, front maps ect, details on dew point, humidity and other data that is nice to know

On usual orders once it says "Ready for Pickup" you can go into the store to get it. HOWEVER, they are very strict on your pick up time on launch weekend so I wouldn't count on getting it early. If you miss it you can go later but might have to wait a little bit.
Really appreciate it. Sorry to disrupt the thread. I used to hang in here previous years and I miss it. <3

Is it true that UPS is now NOT offering to have package held for free? I tried to do that recently with some other shipment and they wanted to charge me. Just wondering what all is happening with the iPhone orders this year....

yes thanks, but this is what i was referring to. without the full tracking number, it seems impossible to track the flights. and it is. but it turns out (as i'm sure you know, which i just learned) that for some people, for some reason, UPS masks the full tracking number when tracking by reference. when that happened to me i figured it was universal, but it is not..

I think people are using Flightradar24 and FlightAware to see what outgoing flights are leaving X airport. Most of the people who ordered on Friday 9/9 and have a Friday 9/16 delivery date already have iPhones in Louisville (UPS WorldPort) - this group arrived yesterday or are on the UPS 183 flight that just departed Anchorage. By this afternoon, everyone's iPhones should be in Louisville together.

It looks like for the past couple years, the route has been:

ZhengZhou, China -> Incheon, S. Korea -> Anchorage -> Louisville -> Your metro airport -> Your house/apartment

As mentioned by many others, once the import scans go through in Louisville, only then will you see your status change from Preparing to Ship to Shipped via Apple. This probably will not happen until Thursday 9/15 AM. You'll also get your official tracking number if you can't track it now (seems like UPS is hiding the full tracking number for security reasons for some people). From Louisville, UPS will most likely fly your iPhone to your closest airport on Thursday at some time (it could be into the evening, do NOT fret). On Friday, your local UPS driver will have your iPhone on his/her truck and you'll get it as expected. Last year, there were storms in NYC and there were delays for the flights going to NYC metro area, and I was worried that I might not get my iPhone on time, but I still got my iPhone on Friday as expected.
Beat me to this by 70 minutes. 😂 Trying to catch up. On page 603 of 609.

That’s correct. Been a lot of talk about this in this thread. I was just at a hub and the guy working said it’s a new fee. Some here have had luck getting the fee waived by calling

it is showing in aftership
