Looking like the end is here for Sergeant.

Yup. He loses his Williams seat at the end of the year to Sainz and certainly no other team is going to take him. He is expected to go to IndyCar for 2025.

In other news, Alex Albon has been disqualified for failing tech inspection so he will start from the back with Logan instead of P8. Lewis Hamilton has also been given a three-place gird penalty for impeding Perez in Q1. He will now start in P15.

So now we just need Mercedes to announce Antonelli (Monza would be an opportune place to do so)...

And Toto promptly lets slip yesterday that Kimi is their second driver. :p

Toto Wolff said:
"What I also said is that the two drivers that are in the car have our full support, 100 per cent. And therefore I'm entering the season in 2025 with two drivers that we will be giving all the opportunity to perform.

"That's why I don't want to talk about the 2026 driver lineup at that stage because I want to make it work with George and Kimi."

There must have been something in the data we couldn’t see. I don’t know what else Lewis could have done short of stopping on track. Looked to me like just bad timing.

Well that was a boring race totally dominated by one driver, but it was nice to see Lando being the one to dominate. Max had nothing for Lando and just continued to drift farther and farther back as the race unwound.

LeClerc had a super strong drive to finish third, considering how bad Ferrari looked in FP and Qualifying. I have no idea how Piastri could not get past him with a much faster car and much fresher tires. But he could just make no inroads on LeClerc.

Same with Lewis and Russell against Perez. Lewis did fantastic on his Softs at the start to climb up the grid, but even on fresh Softs at the end, neither car could make any inroads on Perez and had to settle for 7th (George) and 8th (Lewis).

Totally a snooze. Just sub the MCL38 for the RB20. You know its going to be a long event when the Sky Pundits are relegated to "Lewis is moving up through the field, Lewis is pitting, Lewis is moving up through the field, Lewis pitting..etc...etc...

I have to give credit to Prodromou though. They've nailed their aero development in 2024. Perez could have driven that MCL38 to P1 today.

Surprised at Ferrari’s result given where they were in qualifying.
Also surprised Piastri couldn’t pass at the end.

Yet another poor start from Lando. Fortunately his pace made up for it.
WOW!

I didn't think Lando had it in him!

Well done!

I'm beginning to believe He's going to need those 8 points he lost in Hungary...

Max still has a 70 point cushion and with a maximum of 234 points available, Lando would need to win every race and secure Fastest Lap as that would give him 459 points to a maximum of 457 for Max should he finish second in every race. And the likelihood of that happening is...remote...IMO.

Mind you, I would love the fight to continue for as many rounds as it can, but I believe Max will be WDC no later than the end of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

And exactly why those 8 points are important... or were...

Lando won't win the title but I expect he'll finish a strong second...

The start of Lando was very good, his reaction time was the same as Max. It’s just that his car has some serious issue going from 0 - 200 km/h.

Since RB had regulation issues, MAX is more Minimum now...Yeah the Mclaren was a tank getting off the line, slower than a Peel50, but over the race, Minimum must have felt he was driving a racing Lada...PastriePies was slower than a milkfloat stuck in a ice cream flood... But no reds/yellows, only 1 comment about dangerous driving, that driver should be kicked out of motorsport, stick to Pickleball..

Please, Piastri was not even on the podium and he is a better driver than Perez.

Super dull race but that’s Zandvoort usually when it comes to modern F1. Nice to see Lando win from pole despite an awkward start too. Looks like that McLaren have maintained that edge and the removal of Red Bulls brake valve seems to have cost them the secret advantage they’ve enjoyed for so long. Nice to have a season with more than 2 winners, but I think Max has done a Jenson Button and gained enough of a points lead to hold it to win the championship. He could be WDC at Vegas.

Of course we will go to the last race of season, there will be a crash, a safety car, Minimum will have lost the WDC to Lando, and 10 000 muppets will say Minimum was robbed.. The FIA is bent.. At least I hope we have a last race of the season winner takes all.. To go into the last few with a winner winner chicken dinner is dull.. Like watching the 3rd play off of some dull soccer.. who cares who comes 3rd..

Let’s hope so. One DNF can throw everything into a state of confusion. Red Bull is very fortunate to have Max. No one else on the grid could have brought that car home in P2.

Even Martin Bumble made a similar comment on Sunday. 😉

Correction Minimum came 2nd as Pies was stuck driving a rover with a box of neutrals... Lando was a pit stop ahead of the field, so how was his number 2 so slow??

Williams Jr. Franco Colapinto replacing Sergeant effective immediately. Interesting. I thought Schumacher had a good chance. Looks like the end for Mick as well.

Not really a surprise but sad he couldn’t make it to the end of the season. That crash in Zandvoort was the final straw or large bill then. Franco Colapinto is not a name I’m familiar with but he at least gets to show his potential before Carlos comes in

I mean Williams had little to no choices to replace Logan except from their own internal development driver. Maybe he will not crash as much, which right now is all Williams really is asking for.

Mick Schumacher crashed a fair bit in the Haas, so not surprised he was skipped. And why would VCARB and Alpine loan out Lawson or Doohan when Williams is chasing them for CC points?
