Hi F1-ers

I hadn't seen a thread yet for F1 discussion in 2025 and with news coming through since the New Year, I thought it was about time.

Launches:

  • Ferrari Launch 19th Feb 2025 (Only team announced so far.)
  • McLaren, Red Bull, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Alpine, Haas, Racing Bulls, Sauber, Williams (All TBC)
Pre-season Testing: 26th-28th Feb 2025.

GM have set up their engine development company for their 2026 bid (in principle). Hopefully not another Mastercard Lola :p .

Spa extends commitment which is good news for any fan who loves arguably the best track on the calendar.

Flavio is about as ruthless as Marko when it comes to drivers. I have heard Doohan's contract is only firm for five races in 2025 and then is up for reconsideration so my guess is that he has to prove himself from the start or Colapinto will be slotted in.

Good shout. Not long to go. I’d love to see McLaren continue to be at the front.

Also think a last Championship for Lewis would be fun at Ferrari but I think unlikely.

A struggling RBR or if Max’s number two is allowed (and beats) him would be a good 2025.

I do not see Liam putting any pressure on Max. On the flip side, I do expect there to be a massive amount of pressure on Liam to immediately perform.

I hope that Liam settles in quickly and that the Red Bull car isn’t as bad as last year. It would be great seeing the Red Bulls together like the other teams manage to do. And play with some defensive strategies as a team.

I can already see the expectation building for Lewis and the fans that don’t like him are suggesting if he doesn’t beat Charles then it’ll prove he’s rubbish. A more pragmatic approach is I think Lewis will be freshly motivated after last season and keen to perform straight away. However, it’s a new team with a car that is designed differently to what he is used to, so he has quite a challenge initially. I think we’ll see a win or two for him, but I don’t expect a championship. Plus the regs change for 2026 and it’s anybody’s guess.

I reckon it’ll be another McLaren vs Red Bull season. I hope Lawson gives Max a challenge as that’ll at least open it up and complicate things at Red Bull, for better viewing on our part. Norris and Piastri will be close again I’m sure, so I expect a decent season.

This must be the strongest neck in world motorsport and it’s always impressed me how wide Fernando’s neck appears to be compared to other drivers. Not bad for nearly 44 too.

I don't see Liam contributing much. He was the least painful choice. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I see that Ferrari has a second testing session for Lewis scheduled. It will be interesting to see what's going on with that.

From reading articles it seems Lewis is starting simulator testing on Monday (20/01) at Maranello and then on Wednesday he is taking part in a 'wake up test' where he'll drive the F1-75 from 2022 at Fiorano. I would imagine Ferrari have totally different layouts, although I am sure Lewis will be able to dictate this for his own preferences in 2025. The Italian fans have certainly taken to Lewis by the sounds of things which is cool considering how hated he used to be there in his McLaren days.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this is going to work out in the next two years. I hope he can show he's still got it. Is only good for us fans.

But not too good please :p

If he wins the WC they will love him forever!
