27" refurbs in stock! (i5 and i7)

For anyone interested, i5 and i7 refurbs just popped up in the apple store in the last hour or so. I finally just bought my i5 :)

They've only been showing up in there for the last few days, so I thought I'd announce it for anyone who's been impatiently waiting like me for them to show up. Grab em while they're in, but they were in stock yesterday, and again today like 28 hours later, so they may be coming in on a semi regular basis now...who knows...but grab em while they're hot! er..available.
 
I got a refurb 27" C2D a week and a half ago...now that they have i5s and i7s refurbs I'm starting to regret my decision and wish I would have sprung a few more dollars ($250 more for the i5) for the better CPU :(
 
oh nice, will have to check the refurb store daily for when they restock on the i5's.
But I'm still a little unsure about whether or not I should wait for a refresh, I bought my 24" iMac at a really bad time (bought in Sept. 09 just before the current gen 21"/27" models came out and too late for return after they released), don't want that to happen again...
 
I purchased my i5 today, and I read that another user bought an i5 there today , and they were sold out minutes after I made my purchase. It looks like when they're posted on there, they have a handful that all become available at once, then once they're sold out, they wait until the have a couple more of a certain item before it returns to the refurb store.

They've been showing up between 2PM-4pm PST the last 2 days, both i5s and i7s, so for anyone still looking, that's probably the best time to check in. Oh, and although they were listed on refurb.me when they became available, refurb.me's email notification doesn't seem to work.
 
Just curious how you can tell whether the iMac is i5 or i7 from the online store listing.

And can you explain what i5 & i7 mean? Sorry, I'm new here. Thanks.

When I was browsing yesterday, the refurbished store listing clearly said 27" iMac i7"

They were listed at $1,849 for the i7's, I believe.
 
The i5 was $1699. I got one but they were gone in well under an hour. I bought one previously in early Jan but it had the tint so I returned it and just got a refund. I did not want to go through a bunch of returns.
When I first read about the problems with the new imac, I kind of believed it was just a few squeaky wheels making noise. I have had at least 7 different macs. My first was a mac SE which I still have. In all this time I never had a problem with any of them. So I figured even if there were a few machines with a problem what were the chances I would get one. Pretty small right? So, I was pretty disappointed when I got a yellow screen. Not really mad, just disappointed. This whole thing has shaken my faith in the company. If it was just my machine that would not be the case. I would have just exchanged it knowing the next one would be as advertised. But to have such widespread problems go on and on is not understandable. I'm not an apple is my god and person. However it was one company where I could buy something of quality and it would work as advertised.
I hope the refurb is a good machine and has been closely checked out. If not I'll just return it and wait. It gives me a headache just thinking about using a windows machine. It has always been an excruciating experience. So, the imac i have now is not as fast but it will do if things don't go well.
 
The refurb iMac i7's are back in stock as of 11:51 a.m. CST.

and now there are no more

Yeah, I saw that. I've been tempted to grab one of those refurb 27" models with the 4850. @ -$300 seems like a good deal. The only thing I worry about is running games under Windows 7 at that really high native resolution.

Perhaps I should sell this 6 month old iMac 24" refurb with 8800GS.

"Sigh" Chasing the latest, greatest is hard work!

I would kill for that iMac.. I got a Imac 1.83ghz 17" Intel Core Duo, in other words a 1st Gen. I will have about $1700 saved up by the end of April. I am bound and determined to get a 27" Quad Core iMac, but I think I will have to wait until the next iMac update.. most likely around June.

Alright so here's the best way to get your hands on a refurb 27" the moment they become available:

Subscribe via RSS to this feed: http://www.152.org/?region=1&url_id...=rss&search_btn=Search&switchTemplate=rss.inc

which will update anytime any 27's are listed in the refurb store.

Also, if you reeeally want to make sure you don't miss it, you can set up a yahoo alert (just google yahoo alerts) and you can be alerted via SMS on your phone when that RSS page is updated. That RSS feed checks the refurb store every 5 minutes so it's almost real time updating in a way that's hard to miss.

This one looks pretty good, too. It will notify you (upon configuration) via RSS, IM, or iPhone (it also listed newsletter, but that's not an expedient technology, IMO).

Congrats. I ordered a refurb i7 two days ago. Initially, I thought my brand new i7 received earlier this week was defect free. That turned out not be the case. I'm sending the new unit back in hopes that the refurb will have addressed the issues I experienced. It looks like the i7 refurbs were only listed for five minutes today before they/it was snatched up!

Initially I thought the iMac was perfect and without the yellow tinge. I ran the test to confirm and it seemed to be fine. Today I was editing some photos/video with plenty of white background. I noticed along the bottom of the screen the colors appeared to be off. It was almost as if there were spots of yellow across the bottom/splotches of other colors. I ran the test again and I have a pretty serious case of yellow tinge. The odd thing is that it didn't appear to be there before. I've also had several situations where the entire computer has just frozen with only the dock being accessible (serious beach ball action).
