3.01 update?

Ok - so it's probably a good idea to do this update because of the exploit... So is this how I go about it?

Connect my 3GS and do a Restore (as new or not?)
Update to 3.01
Resync the iphone
Re-Jailbreak and reinstall my apps (any way to backup and restore these apps)

Anything I missed?

1. make sure that your iPhone is backed up.

3.the jailbreak for 3.01 has not been released yet, so if you do update, you will lose the jailbreak.

3. install APTBackup (it's free), it will back up a list of your Cydia apps, then perform a backup in iTunes. When you do restore your phone, restore it from a backup, install APTBackup again and click restore, it will then redownload your Cydia apps automatically.

So just sit back and wait if you want to keep your phone JB.

Yes.

Someone can text you and gain controll over your phone.
Unless you have texting completelly turned off thru AT&T then you dont have nothing to worry since you're not able to receive SMS.

Well it seems redsn0w still works without a problem. I will be the brave one and will keep you guys posted.

Did you personally test tethering under 3.0.1 or is this only hearsay? I use tethering a lot with work and breaking it would be a huge hindrance on my work.

This very well may be a noob question, but wouldn't re-JBing with the 3.0 ispw patch file leave the SMS vulnerability open? Don't we need a 3.0.1 firmware patch?
