3G iPad Arrives April 30th

Agreed. They may "ship" earlier but Apple will definitely hold up the shipments like the WiFi release so they arrive on Friday.

Never the less they will probably prepare the shipments in the order they were received, and we will see them ship in a likely similar way to before.
 
After the gazillion or so OMG MAY 7!!11! threads, its amazing that there's only one 30th April one.
 
All-in-all, I'm really just happy to finally have a date. I have a work thing that a bunch of us have to drive to Houston for that day, so now I am trying to decide if I'm still going to go or bail out and wait for my toy at home. Seems silly to take a day off for it, but it's not like I don't have the time.

My only disappointment in not getting it this week is that I have to go to my sister-in-law's this weekend and I was hoping to have it for then.
 
I start work at Noon on Fridays, so I'm hoping it's delivered before that. Fingers crossed.

Anyone ever go to FedEx to pickup a package before it goes on a truck? Do they let you do that?

I think once you have the tracking number you have to call ahead and ask for no deliver but instead a pick up. Then when it arrives and they prepare to put it on the truck they put it aside and you pick it up from your local FexEX depo.

Nope, pretty sure they don't. You can always pre-authorize or request for it to be dropped off at a neighbor's though.
 
Anyone heard yet whether there'll be reservations for in-store pick-up? I get the impression it will be first come/first serve.
 
I will be out of town too, but luckily I will be at a hotel for a period of time that allowed me to change my shipping address to where I will be staying. The Apple rep was very helpful and changed everything for me.

Somebody will be at my house to sign for it.

It's just that I'd rather bring it to work & get to know it rather than leaving this magical & revolutionary product in it's prison with no one to appreciate its awesomeness. ;)

yep, that is what I did. I will be out of state on training so I called and changed the shipping address over the phone. If the address that you are changing it to is someplace you are just going to be for a day or 2 they probably won't change it. She would only change mine when I told her I would be at the new address for 1 week before the delivery date and 1 week after. Temporary addresses with short time spans probably won't be able to be changed. They don't want you to miss the delivery if they ship early or something.

Wishful Dreaming! I don't understand either why they haven't changed the order status date. I just order an incase cover that is not scheduled for shipment until May 17 and it says 'prepared for shipment'
 
LOL! Looks like April 30 will be a 'hate iPad' day for FedEx, UPS, etc.
Cheers to everyone scheduled to get theirs and be nice to those delivery guys!
(I'll be on my front porch all day that Friday....j/k:apple::D;):p)
 
Has anyone seen the actual PR that was allegedly released by Apple?

I just contacted Apple and their customer svc. dept. stated that Apple has not yet made any announcements regarding the shipping date for the 3G Ipads on preorder, and that they were still aiming for "Late April" . :confused::mad::confused:

I contacted my local Apple Retail Store and they hadn't yet heard they were going to have the iPad 3G in stores on April 30th. I'm thinking all the info hasn't trickled out to everyone company-wide yet.

Don't worry! At least you have the preorder!

I'm going to have to scour through the store shelves in the 3rd largest city in America :(. Feel like a dummy for not preordering. I knew it would be popular, but I didn't think the iPad would be selling out like it is. Thankfully I should be able to leave work pretty early Friday to get to a Best Buy or Apple store.
