Never really got the obsession that every phone maker should slap android on their devices. Where's the "choice"?

That's because its freeware. Mobile device manufacturers can design it how they like and carriers can load it up with their junk and lock it down.

I'm selling my Nexus 5 and getting an iPhone 5C....if/when Apple releases a larger iPhone, I'll definitely be moving to it.

Just getting tired of moving back and forth. The iPhone/iOS just works for me. It may be "less advanced" for some, but for me - its just better.

My initial reason for getting an Android is the idea I didn't need/want to carry around 2 iPhones....now, at this point, I'd rather just carry ONE phone around. And I prefer to have my (an) iPhone with me.

I'll pick up an Android device again in the future - but honestly, 5" displays are too large for me. 4.7" is the sweet spot and I really don't mind 4". Just something about the iPhone 5S form factor....

----------

You realize the Nexus 5 and most every Android smartphone on the market is the same aspect ratio as the iPhone 5/5S/5C.....

When the iPhone gets larger, it'll get wider as well at this point. I'm with you on the smaller bezels....but I'm not a fan of the "edge to edge" designs and concepts.

I think I may have gotten used to the Nexus 4's 16:10 aspect ratio. My thumbs have been spoiled. Even on comparison to other 16:9 phones though, the iPhone looks so thin width-wise.

It would be a tough choice, I loved how big my S3's screen was, but I like the size of the iPhone 5, its much more comfortable in my pocket

That would be because the device is smaller period. And all the bezel is on the top and bottom.....

Overall, I'm a fan of the size of the iPhones. But that's because I'm most used to using them one handed and the width works well for me.

Seems to be almost an even 50/50 split in the market. Which is why it'd be great if Apple catered to both. 4.0 & 4.7. Both will be a winner as long as Apple didn't take the route of making the smaller device some how inferior like EVERY ANDROID MANUFACTURER EVER! ..Although I'm sure they wouldn't as they understand engineering a whole lot better than Samsung and the likes.

Yes but iOS still needs a lot of changes.

I said it many times being a Mac user it's the reason why I keep going back, it's also the reason why I have an iPad Air instead of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 (or Note Pro 12.2").

I love/prefer android OS, nexus 5 is the best Super Phone at the moment! I would also pick up an iPhone 6 if Apple releases it in 4.7"+.

Agreed. I'm sitting with two iPhones at the moment. If a 4.7" version was released I'd be all over it. 5" was just a bit too large for me....4.7" with the right bezels and form factor could be perfect imo.

iOS has its issues as does Android. The annoyances of Android were what drove me back to iOS. Whether its the fact I'm just more used to iOS's shortcomings or that they don't affect me as much as Android's do, I don't know.

I will say that a big factor in my decision making is not MY uses, but the uses of those I contact. 99% of my friends/family have iOS devices. In many ways, its just easier to communicate with them if I too use iOS.

I have no ill feelings toward Android. Its a great platform in its own right. Just didn't fit the bill for me.

I hope they make the edges rounded to make it easier to handle.

I find it intriguing that a lot of people use iOS because others they communicate with use apple devices. Most people I know use android phones and PCs, but that still doesn't negate the rest of the iOS strengths which pull me over. Just need a slightly bigger screen and the plunge might happen :p

Sounds like you and I are rowing the same boat, so to speak. ;)

I like a great deal about Android but find my phone use is just more straight forward using an iPhone because of this. There are other elements of the iPhone and iOS that I like as well but simplicity in my lifestyle wins out for now. It's far easier to use an iPhone within a household and extended family/friend circles ensconced in the Apple ecosystem.

Plus I still get my Android fix on one of my tablets. :D

I'm astounded by how comfortable and nice the iPhone 5C feels in hand. I always liked the design and thought the plastic was done very well. But now that I have one, I think this is how all Apple devices should be designed. Just make a metal version with the rounded edges.

Really aside from the "outdated" internals (which still run everything plenty smoothly), the 5C is a marvelous phone. And, for those who don't need the latest and greatest, well worth saving the $100 difference if you are so inclined.

As for the other point - really it comes down to ease of group messaging, iMessage (which is essential to me in my house, given signal is crap due to our radiant barrier), visual voice mail, photo sharing etc....its easier for me to share with my wife or grandmother, neither of whom couldn't care less about most things not pre-installed on their devices, via Photo Streams or iCloud than third party software like DropBox.

There's also an "x-factor" that I can't put my finger on, but simply gives me a better feeling using iOS versus Android. Maybe its the comfort level, familiarity, I don't know. But I just "feel" better using iOS. Everything is consistent, elegant, smooth....the experience is just top notch. That's ULTIMATELY why I went back.

Amen. We are definitely of the same mind. Except I wouldn't dream of owning an Android tablet.....my iPad is the one device in my house that I take the most advantage of and don't realize how much I use/love it until I've sold it and am waiting for the new one to arrive.

I tried the Nexus 7 when it first arrived and sold it within 2 months. Just not a fan of the scaled up apps experience. Also, aesthetically, the device is ugly imo.

I'm sure I'll grab a Nexus smartphone again in the future when I can afford to have a phone sitting in my drawer. Until then, I'm all iOS again and not looking for any "new" or "exciting" devices outside of the Apple ecosystem.

I agree with this. At the moment I have a Nexus 5 and am loving it, but some time ago I saw a iPhone 5c at an Apple store, the plastic is done beautifully, better by far than the Galaxy S3 and S4 that I owned and TBH, IMHO better than the finish on the iP5s, not for everyone granted, but I just preferred the plastic and felt it had a more modern feel than the aluminium of the 5S. If it had a larger screen to aid my old eyes I could be tempted. :)

Couldn't have explain my experience and differently or better.

Oh I like the iPad quite a lot--still the best overall tablet experience, IMO. It's still the best consumption device on the market--I prefer it for web browsing and apps very often offer a much better experience. If I was forced to pick only one tablet, would probably be the rMini..or the Air...or maybe the rMini...;) Thankfully, I don't have to make that choice.

There are still some limitations in iOS that bother me when I'm using my tablet for more than consumption, and I like to have one foot in the Android world as well. I found the Nexus 7 too small for my liking and the Note 10.1 with too many other annoyances. The G Pad GPE I picked up last month though is IMO, the closest experience Android comes to the rMini and I'm enjoying it. Great size, nice materials and feel and most importantly, at least for me, stock Android KitKat.

I will NEVER use any Android device unless it is stock. Tried TouchWiz, hated it. Sense was alright, but there were things that bothered me about how it was organized. Stock is where its at.

Well this is a technicality, but what you want is Google android, not stock android. Stock android is aosp minus all the Google additions, including Google services, play store, Google sign in at start up, and gapps.

No. I had a Samsung S3 and although it worked great it was just too small so I ended up getting a Note 2. The Note 2 still isn't big enough for a smart phone so my next phone will have at least a six inch screen. I know some people will think I am crazy for saying that but I use the internet more than anything on my phone outside of the house and I really want a bigger screen.

If you haven't yet, you should check out the Xperia Z Ultra on the used market. They are going dirt cheap, basically half price totally new with warranty (at least in Sweden where I am). It seems many don't know what they're getting into with that big screen and end up regretting their purchase - quite an opportunity for phablet enthusiasts :D

Check out the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 arriving this year.

The first gen Ascend Mate had fantastic battery life packing over 4000+ mAh which is RARE on any smartphone/phablet. And the design wasn't glossy plastic like the Samsungs. The back had a bit of a faux-leather soft touch which felt very comfortable to hold. Softer than the Note 3 which only looks that way in pictures.

And if price is an issue, checkout the Asus ZenFone 6. $199 off contract. Can't really go wrong and the Intel chips are as power efficient as the Qualcomms as seen with the Lenovo K900.

Smarter move is to import your phones and buy them online. Huawei and Asus are just as solid as Samsung, LG, or Sony depending on the specific model.
