Nobody has the ipad and if they do they are not going to say because they would get sued.

What would the benefit be in Apple withholding the inclusion of features in the iPad? You think Steve Jobs would sacrifice an Apple product's success just to make sure that you had a little surprise when you purchased it? "Oh my god it has a camera and Apple didn't even tell us 0mgzzzz!" If it had a camera in it, it would have been demonstrated at the event back in January when he was selling the media on the device. If I were attempting to sell you a car that had 4WD and a navigation system I wouldn't tell you that it only had 4WD just so that you would be shocked when you sat inside and saw that it had navigation. Holding back that information could potential cost me a sell therefore I will let you know all the amenities out the door so that I know I gave it all I had.

It doesnt have a camera.

Apple have never mentioned a camera, they havent shown it with a camera, they havent shown any apps that would need a camera, it doesnt have a camera.

And yet, your the person on launch day who will be moaning that your wishes never came true.

Apple: "Here is your new iPad" :)

You: "But wheres the camera?!?"

Apple: "it doesnt have a camera, and we never said that it did."

You: "But that little tiny flash in the ad where it looked like there might be a camera.... you got my hopes up."

Apple: "Go home"

That's a negative. I could care two ***** if it has one or not. I'm getting it regardless. I'm just pointing out an observation afellow mac rumor member brought up and found it interesting. What I'm saying is that it would be awesome if it did have one. And if it doesn't which is what im expecting, no problem, that's what I'm expecting. And that's what I'm buying. Capiche?

I can think of about a hundred things that they didn't say it didn't have. Companies do not usually make it a habit of listing all of the features not present in their products.

Everyone needs to get it through their heads that iPad 1.0 will not have a camera.

Do we know this as a fact or our we just saying this because we read it won't

When has a company ever highlighted what it doesn't provide? Would it make sense for Microsoft to highlight the fact that Windows 7 doesn't come with a built in alternative to Automator which comes standard with OS X? No. They would instead highlight their strengths like the fact that 90% of the software that is made in the world is made for or has an iteration specifically for the Windows platform. It is the same case here which is why you see an emphasis on form and ease of use which are the iPad's strengths. If it was able to take pictures and video those would be strengths and Apple's marketing department would make sure that those were emphasized in all marketing material. We have had:

1.) A conference

2.) A website

3.) A commercial

...and we are less than a month away from launch without one mention of a camera on the device. At this point it doesn't even need to be mentioned that it doesn't have a camera just like it doesn't need to be mentioned that it doesn't come with a Black turtleneck.

This is the same thing people went through on the iPhone with the front facing camera, their is no camera on the iPad.

Oliver Stone is making a movie about this - clearly there's a conspiracy going on and much like the footage on the grassy knoll, it must be analyzed down to the pixel!

Here is a slightly more zoomed out, less blurry attempt:

Haha it's quite hard to see but if you really wish it to be there you can almost make out a pretty amazing camera (HD maybe?).

Yeah, it's definitely there, but it looks more like an ambient light sensor than a camera. As someone else pointed out, it doesn't make much sense for them to put a light sensor right there because it will be covered by the users thumb in landscape mode (as it is in other parts of the video)... corner seems like better placement for the light sensor... but who knows?

Not entirely true, the Address Book app has/had the option to "Take a Photo" for a contact. Minor, but still. I doubt it will have a camera on the first version, although it would be nice.

I think it will have a web cam. How would you explain the stuff people found in the sdk?

The SDK is beta and it is built on the iPhone SDK which does have a camera. I doubt that Apple will want to maintain two different SDKs when iPad launches so you will see everything for all three devices in there.
