I think an xserve like design would accommodate these features better
Data center servers have evolved quite since last xserve, to be welcome at datacenter an unit needs out of band management (aka IMPI) redundant PSU, ECC ram, no Mac got IMPI yet while not complicated it may require specific provisions at logic boards, not imposible but not what apple has deployed right Now (CentOS servers with Nvidia GPUs powers Siri), and unlikely what consumers (even pro and enterprise) would buy for in-house, and it's the way AI is deployed, AI training and inference is mostly (if not all) platform agnostics, and given the scale and costs, saving money is not something to argue against traditions or fanboy pride.

While I see apple deploying it's own (or purchased) AI cloud on arm servers (as Altra) loaded with custom TPU either developed by Apple or an contractor.

So most likely an M3 System, which makes much more sense.

I didn’t know what to make of that report. Glad you think it means M3. That will be great!

it would make for a very interesting, WW DC. In essence what they can say is we made the M2 just for our low end, and here is our higher end. It would be a major way to shoot Intel’s claims that they are getting closer with some of their newer chips.

It would be a way to keep the Studio in the product line too, if it's a chip series behind the Mac Pro.

Maybe the higher clocked M2 Ultra rumors are actually about the Gen2 Mac Studio, and the ASi Mac Pro will debut with (high clock) M3 Ultra/Extreme/Whatever chips specific to it...?

Disagree with Hector, kernel drivers are not static, an review on macOS 13.4 as an update may add it without consequences.

Same happened with AICv1

As for aic v3, it obviously for M3 Macs.

Conclusion: an early update for Mac studio possible but don't bet your kids on this.

M3 mac launch likely following the new Mac Pro's.

Barely more interesting than last Gurman newsletter.

I dunno man...

China Times reports that Apple will use N3E for A17/M3 later this year...

But what of the N3B wafers that have been rolling off the production line for the last three months...?

Maybe they are being used for the ASi Mac Pro, which would be a lower volume product...?

So, according to other posters, we may see a M2 Ultra ASi Mac Pro tomorrow, or maybe next Tuesday (the 18th)...

Or we might have to wait until WWDC 2023...

But, WHAT is Apple doing with all those N3B wafers...?!?

iphone stockpiling? If we get a Mac pro WWDC announcement, release would be around december, if past releases are to be a guide. That would work out well for a m3 extreme release, I think?

N3B: M3
N3E: M3 pro, max, scalable

IMHO, why N3B as first 3nm process it's the most risky/low yield, indeed I won't expect it on high volume high transistor count SOC. That's for n3b, the God news is apple may not Skip m3 for 2nd gen ASi Mac Pro.

How long was the Mac studio from announcement to release?

Another back mirror prophet.... 🤷‍♂️

Good question. I don’t remember.

I’m making no prediction, I’m just speculating. For the record, I have no clue or even good guesses. And if I were betting, I would not be betting on an M3 Mac Pro release. That is more wishful thinking in my part.

I'd take that bet. I don't think Apple is going to hold back on an AS Mac Pro. I think they're going to surprise us all.

Sweet...! M3 Ultra / Extreme Mac Pros...! ;^p
I won't bet my beers on this.

But... It means: less chances on being an glorified trashcan at least, however at this point won't bet my beers on being a trashcan, cube, or classic chesses grater tower.

Let see tomorrow, whatever it will include WoW effect for free.
