I'm continuing this thread as I have bought a CalDigit FASTA 6GU3 Pro (it says CAL 85353 Rev. 1.0 on the back).

Does anyone know if this card allows booting into macOS (ideally Monterey or Mojave) on a cMP3,1 via the eSATA ports?

I'd like to add either a 2-bay OWC Mercury Elite Pro or a 4-bay IcyBox or Fantec.

cheers
Philip

Of course they do. It´s what I use to make clones of my hard drive, and boot from them in case I need to restore them. I iuse this cable, as ESATA ports don´t have power supply.

Thank you for the quick reply, and for the good news. That's a cool cable, I have never seen one like it before.

I'm looking for an enclosure though and had understood that not all eSATA enclosures will be bootable.

I simply connect the SSDs to the cable. Have 6 macs , so storing the backups without enclosures is more convenient for me. I used to use this enclosure some years ago, but I think is discontinued.

Really easy aatach and dettach drives. I keep still some of them, anyway...
