but icloud can only be considered as 'backup' storage and certainly not 'operation' storage rite?

meaning photo and video taking still are limited to how much storage u have locally?

1TB for me. Coming from 512 12PM. I currently have over 350gb utilised, 1TB will give me a peace of mind till the 16 arrives.

P.S I upgrade every 2 years.

I chose 512GB this time around. I use iCloud also. My current 256GB has around 40GB left currently. Only bitter pill is that Apple gives you the same trade in amount regardless of what storage option a customer paid for.

From how you typed your sentence, I'm assuming you come from a country with a nickname called little red dot? 😆

That aside, hey it's good for future proofing, reselling them next time would be easier based on experience.

I went with 512, at first I was going to do icloud 2tb + lowest gb but than if you do the math you spend almost the same amount of money and you lose the ability to photos to be on the device so you may be in a situation to which your internet access is limited and boom cant get what you need, so this way because I upgrade every year regardless I just buy the extra on-device storage.

Riddle me this. Most 512GB users will soon need over 200GB of iCloud storage. I know I will soon. 🤣

I went with 1 TB. If I’m able to tolerate the pwm frequency on this phone, I want to transfer over a lot of stuff from my Android phones. But I do think I was probably an idiot and overbought. It’s hard to tell because I am using iPhone 11 and SE and those don’t have the camera capabilities I’ll be getting and experimenting with on the 14 Pro Max. I was just starting to test the more advanced capabilities on my 13 Pro when I discovered the 13 Pro was causing my untreatable headaches. :(

Overbuying is better than underbuying and regretting it later. I'll be excited to try out 4k prores on vacations without having to worry about space issues.

It was between 128 and 256 for me, and I went with 128. Slightly worried about how large ProRAW 48 MP photos are, but I have the 2 TB iCloud plan split between my wife and I, and thus far, the iCloud Photos Optimize Storage feature has worked flawlessly for me. I never even notice it having to download originals of old photos that have been optimized, probably because I don’t often look back further than a few months, and maybe it keeps the originals on my device for longer than that. I can’t tell how long it keep originals vs optimized versions, and that’s a testament to how well it works.

Even if I sprung for a larger iPhone that could fit my entire library as originals, I would still feel the need to have the 2 TB iCloud plan to have peace of mind about them always being backed up, and plus I love that my original photos and videos are always synced onto my computers automatically. Do people really buy 512 GB and 1 TB iPhones, no iCloud storage, and then manually sync their photos to a computer all the time? Sounds like a nightmare.

I went with 1TB, cause what's another $200 if I was going to pay $1400 for 512GB. Can't act like you're budget conscious if you already spending $1.2k+ on a phone. 😂🤣
I had the same attitude last year. Bought a 512GB iPhone 13 Pro. About $1,500 USD out the door. It's fine if you plan to hold onto the phone for years. Expensive to replace otherwise.

50-100MB per photo, however since it takes a full second after a shot to get ready for the next, you might not want to use it as the default mode anyways.

If iCloud then it will auto upload every single photo or video you take and just leave a shortcut on your iPhone. If you need to open/share the photo/video it downloads it from iCloud.
But then how does it delete off the phone after you’ve finished with it and go back to the cloud?

I went for 512gb, never had above 256gb before but ive been using pro raw more and only have about 40gb left. Couldn't quite justify the cost of the 1tb

Both storage capacities are utterly pointless because to transfer them from phone to PC, you are limited to USB 2.0 speeds (300 Mbps or 37.5 MBps actual) and on Wifi6 also, actual speeds range between 400 Mbps - 500 Mbps. Unless next iPhone has USB-C 3.1 and above speeds, I show my middle finger * at Apple.

1 TB = 1048576 MB

1048576 / 37.5 = 27962 seconds

27962 sec = 466 mins = 7 hrs 40 mins

= f*** off Apple

You forgot the < /RANT OFF > tag.

Still genuinely interested in the answer to this.

All your photos stored in cloud, download one to edit / share etc so it’s on your phone.

How does it go back ‘into the cloud’ without deleting it off your device hence deleting it from the cloud I assume?
