I have a 256GB X and have well over 100 apps on my phone, and I still haven't even come close to running out of space. I could have gotten by with 64GB.

Unless you have the need to store lots of photos and video on your phone, or play games, their really isn't much need to over by storage, especially at Apple prices.

I'm don't have any game apps and all I watch and listen to is streamed so that's not an issue. However I fear that apps will get bigger and bigger especially those which use AR technology so that in say 2 years time 64 GB will be the new 16 GB of the past. Anyway after reflecting on this I decided to go for the 64 GB model mainly due to price to be honest. I suspect next year's base model will be 128 GB though...

Not at all. Apps will not go into more than 4GB any time soon. Most highly entertaining graphical games are well within 2GB.

256.

64 would be a mistake IMO when that phone has everything possible on the market.

Spend the extra cash and don't look back.

I've already placed my order. We'll see. Might regret it or not.

Wow, the delivery date is still Sept. 21 for Gold Max.

This isn't looking good for scalpers.

Was kinda surprised to see the Max still holding such great shipping estimates. Placed my preorder for the iPhone before the Apple Watch fearing that the Max's shipping dates will start slipping fast. Ended up with a Sep 28 - Oct 2 release window for the SS gold watch instead o_O

Same. The theory is that all the stainless models were actually slated to deliver from September 28 October 2 for those who ordered immediately. The aluminum model Apple Watches are slated to deliver on the 21st for most.

Went with the 64. I don't need much storage at all as I use iCloud for music and photos. Hoping I can adjust to the Max size after coming from an X.

Did you also have 64gb on the X? I went with 64gb, coming from a 128gb 7 Plus with 75gb used. Time to offload 2 years worth of photos and delete some unused crap.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is both increased supply and less than expected demand for the XS Max, the latter due to price.

Yes, 64GB with my current X. I have 41GB left and I have 4,500 photos and 100 4K videos. I pay $0.99 a month for 50GB of iCloud storage and I never have any problems. I am pretty meticulous with what I keep though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 2019 models come with 128 GB base. They'd better anyway, or else they need to lower the price.

That's still a ton of photos and 4K video to have 41gb still available. Thanks for your input, seems 64gb was the right choice for me.

You’ll be fine with the 64GB. I bought the 256GB 8 plus last year listening to people on the forums saying how anything less wouldn’t be enough and after a year of usage, hundreds of photos and pages of apps. I’ve only used 46GB of the 256GB.

I wish there was a 128Gb version, but I’ll get the 64GB version this time around!

Same!!!

64 is plenty. I currently use 51 of my 256 but I really could delete a lot of photos and get a lot of that space back. 64 should be fine. But I am a worry wart so I ordered the 256!

Yea I choose the option to "optimize phone storage" and don't really think about it. I feel like storage isn't all that critical today.

Hahaha. All that matters is you got what you are comfortable with.

I just ordered the SG MAX 64GB. I mainly got it to see if I’ll still have issues with PWM. If so, I’ll happily keep my 8 plus.

I got the 128gb iPhone 7 and only used about 25gb of space. Ever since then I've bought 64gb iPhone 8, X, and now XS. I have about 60 apps and 14gb of music stored on the phone. Photos take up minimal space. Right now I'm still using 25gb of space on my 8. I also enable "optimize phone storage" and it is perfect. Apple's mark up on storage is totally insane.

Do you pay for iCloud storage? Wondering if iCloud is needed, when Google Photos has free unlimited storage. Amazon also has unlimited storage for Prime members.

I do not pay for iCloud storage. I'm fine storing most photos locally on my PC.

I am only using 42GB on my 128GB ip7+ but still gone for the 256GB.
I rather have to much than get close to the limit

Nothing wrong with that logic. Coming from 128gb, I was also on the fence about 256gb but decided on the 64gb.
