I exclusively use Steam now. I wish amazon had a digital download option for games.
They do, lots of games on Amazon are digital download.

Origin is fine. They have had some customer service and terms issues but they're fine.

steam is by far the best platform for pc gaming and mac gaming
great sales also
its amazing how many badasss games u can get for cheap on steam:D:D:D

Yeah, unfortunately I need it installed to play The Sims :/ .

I guess sooner or later I'll have to install it as well. Just bought Assassin's Creed 3 for $14.99 on eBay, from somebody who got the DLC code with his Samsung SSD. I figure you have to be careful on eBay with whom you're buying those codes from, but when it's from a bundle purchase it should be fine - I hope : ) Will report back when the game is done downloading.

Update: Game runs extraordinarily well in native resolution and highest settings : )

Really want one of these, but I have to put it on hold.

I want to get all harcore, do what people aren't doing. Take some of the most hardcore games and run them at the most hardcore settings and post results.

GTA 4, Crysis 2, Farcry 3 etc.   :apple: :D

Also went ahead and added the computer to my signature. It shall be mine! Can't get AR-15 though if I get that. Income Tax, where are you?

In an earlier post I mentioned that I could only play Sleeping Dogs on Medium settings without significant slow down. Well, I had more of a poke around and after playing with the Advanced Graphics options I realised that I can have everything on max, including the high-res texture pack, except the Anti-Aliasing (which I have set to High, not Extreme) and get gameplay basically as smooth as it was on Medium. It's good fun too!

Just remembered that I recently bought a Humble Bundle, and it includes Metro 2033. Downloading now!

I got that off Steam last week, seems pretty cool, but make sure you turn off that function under DX11 (I think it's called Advanced DF or something). You can run it at native res with high settings that way, and the game looks gorgeous.

Thanks for the tip!

Has anyone tried skyrim with the GTX 680 MX with ultra detail?

Yes. It works fine at 1440p.

You can even throw in the HD texture packs and mods for even better water modelling, and use the Nvidia control panel to enable ambient occlusion for much more impressive lighting.

The 680MX handles it with ease.

The AO tweak is described in this article:
http://www.geforce.com/optimize/gui...guaranteed-to-make-your-game-look-even-better

I have it set to "quality" using Nvidia's control panel (rather than the third party Nvidia Inspector to enable the even higher quality version).

I also set the AA to 8x, but didn't run any of the other tweaks on that page - the ugrid one affects your save game files, so I didn't want to mess with that until after I finish the campaign.

Ambient Occlusion and the HD texture pack, running at 2560x1440 on Ultra looks fantastic.

Has anyone here installed Win8 on the new iMac 27?

Any driver issues? Any issues at all?? Anything???

Sorry Razorhog for not getting back to you earlier when you were asking about what games.
I would go with Far Cry 3 or dishonored. Dishonored is not that short. I found the length to be just right -- around 12 hrs. There are 10 different ways to attack each assassination so that leaves you with tons of replay value. Plus if you try and get the achievements that'll keep you playing through it at least 3 times. You can't go wrong with a badass assassin that also happens to have dark magical powers. Call of Duty BO2 is great, but much of that greatness lies in the multiplayer - which is pretty competitive. I still get my but whooped at times and I'm pretty good at FPS games. I personally do not feel the price is worth it just for the campaign. Especially when you could play Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 campaigns for likely a lot cheaper.
Look at any of the older games if you want something cheaper. Again, don't forget Half Life 2 if you haven't played it. If you buy the Orange Box you can get 5 great games for $19.99. You'll be able to run everything in there as high as it will go without a every dropping below 90 frames per second.

Also look at Fallout 3! The Game of the Year Edition is also only $19.99 ... and worth every penny. You get like 5 downloadable content packs included in that. That'll keep you busy for weeks. Don't feel the need to play the latest games if you've never played these gems. They may look slightly prettier, but I promise they're not as good.

As for the other guy asking for what games, just look at what I posted, you can't go wrong with any of them. Deadspace would be a decent game to introduce you to to basic FPS-type games if you're used to the DOOM type games since it's single player and will scare the pants off of you. You probably could find that pretty cheap as well.

Really you can't go wrong with any of the ones I posted. You'll enjoy them all more than likely.

This is not the thread for that, guy.

What you talking about dude? His reply was fine the other guy asked "Has anyone tried skyrim with the GTX 680 MX with ultra detail?" Maybe it was too much information? I did like him referencing the drivers. If a game crashes after an update on that card, maybe the benchmarks would not yield significant improvement.

My bad, jumped on the reply a little fast. I see he mentions it played well. I was thinking he was looking to troubleshoot drivers.

Dude, did you read my previous posts regarding overclocking, new drivers, etc.. etc?

I posted that information so others would know what to expect... You can roll back to 306.xx if you want to play skyrim, I wanted to try the other drivers.. Hopefully they will have an official 680mx update soon.
