FWIW, there was a mixer I bought for my girlfriend for $239 on Amazon... two days later the price dropped to $206 just before I received it. Dealt with Amazon online chat and got a credit for the difference within 5 minutes.

That only works for Amazon, but when you buy stuff from their outlet/warehouse deals, that doesn't apply/work sadly.

Because it's a Warehouse Deals product they wouldn't give it to me. :(
Doesn't matter... the MBA is back up to 797.99 now...

Did you ship it via super saver shipping. That'll take about a week to get to you.

I used my prime account and went for next day air. Had it at my doorstep at 8:15 am.

Yeah just standard free shipping. No prime account here. I am a cheap bastard.

For What its worth

Bought an Amazon Warehouse deals base model for $838 a few weeks ago for my wife and it was brand new still in shrinkwrap. Not a bad deal with no tax. My wife could give two craps about more RAM or new processor

Is that a new policy?

i don't know, but i don't think it's new.

i'm just curious because there was talk of 'trying out the MBA for 30 days'. as OP was willing to awkwardly squeeze out another $14 out of this deal, i'm assuming he either doesn't know about the restocking fee, or there's something i'm not aware of here.

Well I was going to just "return to sender" and there is no restocking fee if you don't open the item.

Also... this is already an "open item" not sure if restocking fee applies.

Just got a response from Amazon

doesn't Amazon charge a 15% restocking fee on opened computers?

Hello,

In general, we issue a full refund when an item is returned in new condition as long as the carrier receives the returned package within 30 days of the day you received it from us.

If you return the computer outside the posted return window, we'll issue you a partial refund as outlined in our Help pages:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=15015711

For instructions on the return process and information on where to ship your item, visit our online Returns Center:

http://www.amazon.com/returns

We hope to see you again soon.

i'm about to go this route. my 13" MB only sees the internet and some email these days. the base model MBA seems more than sufficient for me.

Well it's not a like new from a normal consumer... it's more like an "open item" from like best buy... it's Amazon's Warehouse Deals department. So it's all returns from people who bought it from Amazon and then returned it back to them. One person posted that his was still shrink wrapped.

I would buy if it had the backlit keyboard :p
Guess I will have to wait and see if the next MBA will have it.

Why? Overpriced? Too weak? What's the reason? I'm still debating so I may just send it back.

For that model, it's a great price, and you should totally get it if that's what you want. A lot of people recommend upgrading the memory to 4GB, which is why they are saying not to get it. 2GB is enough for most basic uses, but if you're planning to use it for anything more intense you might run into issues. It's up to you though, you don't have to listen to a bunch of people on a message board! Different people use computers for different things, think about what you want to use it for and decide for yourself whether extra memory is important enough for you to pay the extra $100 (plus miss out on this deal).

My buddy who has a MBA with 4gb of RAM said that flash is pretty much murder on the RAM and battery... can anyone confirm this? All the models I've seen at the store did not have Flash installed so I couldn't test it.

Does having flash installed and a web browser open pretty much slow the computer down to a crawl?

I have a month old 2gb unit and am more than satisfied. You have to remember here, we are mostly populated with power computer users that are running intense stuff, like portal, Vware and other things.

I'm a simple business user of MS Office, Keynote, and surfing the web. I use it on the road for 100 slide presentations thru a projector. The unit is more than enuf, has never been "slow" on me and in general fills my needs perfectly. I have installed "click to flash" and found the speed to faster than my old Lenovo laptop. I have no interest in upgrades at this point. The widget that shows CPU temp never goes over 115 after 5 hours of use, so I guess I'm not a power user.

Received my second MBA from amazon that I bought as a open box. This one was a 13" and arrived practically brand new. The AC adaptor was still wrapped up with plastic and the computer still had the plastic shrinkwrap on it with the seal. Looks like someone bought it, opened it and decided they didnt want it.

Fine by me, saved me another 250 bucks over a new one and this arrived in better condition than the 11" earlier in the week.
:D:D A+++ service from Amazon

It's "like new" from Amazon Warehouse Deals (not a reseller)... should I pull the trigger? Also can get 12 months no interest... I don't need it but damn! No tax no shipping either! And no CA recycle fee BS...

Obviously it's the "base" 64gb model.

Who'd jump on this? It seems like too good a deal for me to pass up!

I'd personally wait for the new processors, they will be infinitely better, and I'm assuming that the base model will retain its low price!
