I must be the only person on these forums that didn't care about the extra price difference. Didn't even think twice about it. Been waiting to upgrade my 9.7 iPad Pro for quite a while now....I'm just glad I'm getting my new iPad on the release date. So happy now. It's gonna be a beast.

Apple is only charging for upgrades like FaceID.

Hope you did not think they would be the same price or cheaper.

Last year I got a 10.5" WiFi 256GB for $749. This year, the 11" 256GB is $949. Add in the $30 Pencil increase and $20 Keyboard increase and we are looking at a $250 jump for the equivalent model with accessories. Do you honestly see $250 worth of upgrades from the 10.5 to the 11?

According to some people, we are just “entitled whiners” for even questioning this

It is a steep increase here is my breakdown

$799 iPad Pro Space Grey 64GB WiIfi
-20% ($ 160) EDU discount =

$640 -$250 Apple GiftCard yraded in my 2016 9.7" iPad Pro like 3 months ago =

$390 - $100 in Random VISA giftcards. =

$290 Not bad for a new iPad Pro.

This is the lowest price for a 2018 Wi-Fi plus Cellular Pro. Apple knows people will pay for it, too.

That's a nice EDU discount? Where are you getting that? I am showing only $50. Which is admittedly more than the $20 for last years models.

I was hoping for $899 at the most for the new 12.9. I thought it was interesting how there were lots of cheers for the 11 pricing and significantly less for the 12.9 pricing at today's keynote!

I had the original 12.9 and then moved to the 10.5. Gave the old 12.9 to my parents and whenever I pop over their house and see the 12.9 I miss it dearly. So do I splurge and get the new 12.9 or maybe look for the 2nd gen 12.9 at a discount? Decisions, decisions.

I could have seen that price bump on the price ipads but 64GB still? SMH, i was hoping for a 128Gb entry level storage. I had to order the 64GB, i cant justify 1000$ for 256GB ‍♂️

The unfortunate part is LTE models rarely go on sale (apart from carrier promos requiring 2-year commitment).

I would probably just subsidize (wait no. screw that) go on a 2 year contract for iPads not on a lease-term. Get to keep the iPad itself as I usually drive all my devices till EOL as I don't believe in "trading in is worth much value, you get ripped" etcetc . iPads aren't meant to be upgraded yearly and if people are actually do that then they need to get a damn reality check. Phones might get away with upgrades every 2 years or so since they get used frequently on the daily vs say the iPad or Macbook.

Even today my iPad mini 2 which is almost coming to 5 years old (a fricking 16GB model wi-fi only) still works damn well on iOS 12... and that is booting an A7 chip ._.ll (iPhone 5S).

I was about to buy a 12.9 256gb until I saw the price. iPads tend to go on sale a bit so I’m just going to wait

I love the new iPad Pro. But what is justifying the huge price jump.

Heck the LTE 64GB model is $999

My 2016 LTE iPad Pro 9.7" model costs
$529 bucks on Sprint over 24 months.

Just gonna buy the base WiFi model.

Paid in 2015 for first IPad Pro 12.9 128 1099
This one Wifi cellular 1299 256
Not bad

Yes with the faster processor, larger screen and FaceID I can see Apple doing this with no problem. Apple never pretended to be cheap, they have always demanded the highest prices.

I think that this iPad is a no-buy for me at this current price. I think I need $150 off the price for it to make sense for me to upgrade my 9.7” Pro. I’ll be hunting for sales on Black Friday & beyond, but until it reaches that price it’s a no-go for me.

I am very enthusiastic about the changes, but having no accessory cross-over, and needing to also rebuy the case, cover, keyboard and pencil is a legitimate way to screw your users.

I am debating this upgrade too, after sitting out iPhone season this year too.

They can keep increasing the price all they want, I’m not paying it until the prices match the value.

Given contracts come with ETFs, I usually only go the subsidized route if the discount is >= ETF. Otherwise, if you switch carriers for example, you end up paying more for the iPad.

Remember when introducing a Retina Display on the iPhone 4 didn’t mean a price increase? Or TouchID on the iPhone 5S?

iPhone X supposed a 40% price increase
MBP with Touch Bar also meant increasing the price
Now full-screen iPads mean 25% price increase over last year iPad Pros.

There was a time where a case for your iPad was 39$
... Now it’s 79 or 99 depending on the size. 2x price! What is there even a 20$ difference in pricing between sizes?

The original iPad cost 499, now it’s 300$ more... 799
!

Plasma TV prices were higher than today’s 4K TV. Tech prices tend to go down over time. Except for Apple.

At these new prices, old Pros look dirt cheap :) And it'll get cheaper after being discontinued.

Wait how are you getting 20 percent off..when I go to apple education I see a 50 dollar price drop(For the ipad pro 256GB wifi) its 899 on my end

Fair enough. To me those are incremental year-over-year features that were expected and already developed for other devices. So, then the A13X Bionic will necessitate another $100 increase? To me, the value here is likely closer $50-$100 to the end user. $250 is pretty ridiculous.

I think the Kool-Aid is getting a bit sour for me.

I am sure the "koolaid" is getting to more than a few. I do not think $50 would cover the FaceTime hardware but everyone still has choice here. I was not happy with the increase but I use my iPad a lot and already have family member claiming my two 10.5 now so I already purchased with the portfolio.
