The people who need that much storage know who they are. No need to advertise to them.
I'm not talking about the storage, but more so about the RAM. Apple should let any app utilize as much RAM as it can to get more performance. Don't let the extra 8GB be underutilized.

Apple does this, but only if developers ask for it (and have good reasons).

I’m not sure if anybody has posted this yet, but when I play Resident Evil Village and I max out all the settings, it shows the memory usage and it looks like I can bump everything up to the maximum amount and still be under the 16 GB of RAM at (12.364 GB)

Also a random tidbit is that I was playing the game this morning and I was doing a lot of other stuff on my iPad and when I went into the game again to take the screenshot to post here, the game was still running in the background and resumed exactly where I had left it. Not sure if the 8GB model would have that same experience.

Exactly. For RE Village I maxed out RAM usage with headroom to spare. 8gb of RAM could never…smh. Dang you Apple! 😭

I don't care how much RAM you have, iPadOS still closes apps for no discernible reason. Power related and not RAM?
Not true entirely. Not sure of the specifics of why or its configured to run in the background but I have left a game of RE4 remake mid-game, went on to play WreckFest (multi-player) on local Wi-Fi with friends that stopped by and after they left, finished the night off watching Netflix. Guess what was still in memory waiting for me the following day? RE4 AND WreckFest, right where I left off! Mind you i used the IPP 2tb for at least 6 hours of gaming and 2 and a half hours of Netflix and yet, they were still in memory waiting for me the following day. So…yea

Short answer: No
Long answer: Unless you really know you need it and also can comfortably afford it, No. Even if you plan on keeping your iPad for years and years.
That.
I noticed that huge documents stay active much longer on my m4 1tb then on my m1 1tb.
and I use these files daily.
but who uses 560+ handwritten pages? So it’s a real niche that needs the 16gb.

The big difference is with 16GB of ram, all your safari tabs will always stay where they are no matter what you do (as long as you don't close the apps of course) and all apps will always stay exactly like they are in the background without never ever slow down the device. Both my M1 11' and M2 12,9 ones have 16GB of ram and that's why I'm not upgrading to the new M4 one because its too expensive for now because once you experience an iPad with so much ram, you don't want to go down.

When I use my 2018 iPad pro with 6GB of RAM, I immediately see the difference. Safari tabs reloads almost all the times.
But but but, why doesn’t my m1 11” 1Tb keep a huge file open and slows it down to a creepy slow pace, where my 11” m4 flies trough?
