I'm getting one kernel panic a day while my Mac is resting (prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off is checked, enable power nap is checked). No issues to speak of under Mojave. Anyone have any ideas about this last crash?

Something out of those is causing kernel panics (I am sure it isn’t monitor, keyboard or mouse). My bet is external DVD drive or HDDs, since crashes are SCSI related.

If you had all these devices connected to Mac while it was running Mojave, and KPs didn’t occur, then your best option might be downgrading to Mojave until Catalina gets fixed. Or just bear through it until update fixes your problems (which might be in a next update, but might as well could be in 10.15.6).

Negative. One monitor and lots of accessories. I unplugged the DVD-RW that was plugged into the hub to test. The other drives are fairly important.

I didn’t expect other result as KP report was pretty much straightforward.

Question is: why are there SCSI related KP on Catalina, but not Mojave and earlier? Hopefully it will get patched.

Exact same problem here. Apple Care told me to reboot into Safe Mode, then reboot again into normal mode because "Safe Mode fixes things." I asked if there was a log to see if anything was fixed, he said no. I don't have much confidence that rebooting twice did anything other than fulfill the support checklist. His next step is to reinstall Catalina.

Anyway, I just unticked every single setting in the power control panel and we'll see if that fixes things. I have external drives, including Time Machine. I bet it was trying to run TM while sleeping.

Update from my issue: two external monitors using DisplayPort to USB-C cause kernel panics. However, I just received my AMD Radeon 5700XT and having both external monitors connected to my eGPU directly, I do not get kernel panics.

Just converted my 2013 MacPro to Catalina 10.15.1 by updating the existing Mojave installation. This machine has two monitors connected through display port connections, 2 OWC ThunderBay4 disk arrays set up as Raid 10 with Softraid and 1 OWC Thunderbay 4 disk array set up as two each disks as Raid 0. I boot from the internal 1 TB Apple SSD. I have had NO issues whatever. The installation went smoothly from sa USB key I created. My iTunes converted perfectly with all artwork.

Safe mode doesn’t fix anything by itself. It is there to make fixing things easier. Still you are the one who has to find the culprit.

This may be an odd-ball interpretation, but my crude disassembly of `bootbase.efi` makes those boot args seem like internal Apple flags set to allow for running not fully signed or revoked builds. (I have these both on one of my machine, so I've been digging). ChunkLists are what are verified when Internet recovery pulls down AppleDiagnostics or the BaseSystem. `-dev` is almost always a development flag.

Think Apple owes answers here on how these can be set given the T2....

Using a USB hub fixed things for me. I'm not happy about it at all but whatever...
Apple support has repeatedly told me that every third party hardware needs a firmware update, which means they don't know anything whatsoever. Sorry to say, but we're **** out of luck with Apple these days.
