Imagine the apple-cult members reaction if some intel/amd laptop manufacturer would have put a notch on the screen. The fanboy-ism of apple users can be truly exhausting at times.

Anyway, I hope the black level of the display is adequate enough to hide it, so we can go back to a square window like we've used since day one on laptops and desktops. Instead of a distracting shape sitting right in front of your face.

If it performs well enough, I'll probably get it, I wont use it as a primary display so that's slightly comforting.

It's also exhausting that people assume you must be a "cult" member/fanboy if you disagree with them about the notch (or whatever other nit-picky thing is the topic of discussion - "white" bezels on the new iMac, etc.). Because, you know, how could someone in their right mind possibly disagree with your opinion, right? LOL! The notch has never bothered/distracted me on the three different iPhones I've owned with a notch, so I guarantee you it wouldn't bother/distract me on a MBP either.

The "notch" is just fine. Combined with the shrink on the bezels and the reworked menu bar on Monterey and the "notch" actually sits in the middle of the menu bar - thus increasing screen real estates as they put the camera in a place nothing else really could go.

I have some eye floaters. They don't bother me most of the time, my brain works around them just fine. Same with a notch .. really not a big deal imho.

Neither my old MBP or newer MBP has a notch. But the notch looks so beautiful when you stare at it. I don't know why Apple try to obscure it in all their marketing materials. And prefer to show the backs of their phones much more than the fronts.

Is there a program for downloading notches to older Macs?

Also, if you put a very small piece of electrician tape at the top of each lens of a camera, the photos come ready with a notch. Why doesn't Tim and them designers at apple make lenses with notches in them already so we don't have to mess about with tape. All our photos should come with notches already. The notch is so beautiful.
