i think it looks terrific—really focusing more on function than form. I’m also in the camp that isn’t obsessed with having a near bezeless design. Of course, design is important to be but functionality is part of design and the headphone/chin on the Razor have genuine functionality, especially on a gaming focused device.

After using the Pixel 2 XL, one thing I’ve noticed with having very little bottom bezel is that reaching the soft keys with your thumb is a lot harder since they’re further down the display. For the same reason, I’m skeptical about using the iPhone X as the ‘home’ gesture requires a low reach as well.

It’s a very industrial look, but I like it.

Agreed on the reachability. I am worried that the home gesture will be difficult on the X, when trying to keep fingers off the screen. That said, I am used to holding the phone in a way to activate frontal TouchID and using the home button.

Being that I take lots of photos and videos with my phones, the Bezels are ideal for me, as I can securely hold the phone, without blocking any of the screen when filming / shooting. An odd use for the stereo speakers (for me) is to provide extra thumb grip to prevent dropping the phone.

For gaming, it is also a nice place to rest thumbs when not needing to touch the screen (accelerometer based games). I also don’t accidentally touch the back button as much as I did when using both the Note 8 and S8.

yeah, I think you need something to hold onto for sure. when I watch a youtube video full screen on my Note 8, yes it's gorgeous, but I have to play hand gymnastics to make sure I don't accidentally touch the screen or cover it up with my hands.
How are you guys holding these phones? Lol

Going back to the Nokia days, my fingers have stayed on the sides when picking up the pogn and using it, only my thumb touch's what's required but I always rest it on the side of the phone.

When watching videos, fingers stay on the side.

I've always been OCd about fingerprints on the face of the phone so I barely if ever touch an area I am not going to interact with on the face

I am either an outer edge, or , corners of the screen (bezel area) kind of guy, and, am equally annoyed with fingerprints. That said, all of my iPhones, their screen protectors, and my Pixel 2 have amazing oliophobic coatings on them, so have been able to wipe them away no problem.

The Edge phones, while they look amazing to behold, actually holding them is a bit of a pain (at least for me) as the edges are narrow and uncomfortable after long periods. I prefer wide round, or square edges on my phones.

Call me risky, but I run my phones without cases, as I enjoy the feel of good hardware, but I know I am unique in this regard. Because of that, hand feel is more important to me than appearance.

Oh, that explains it!

Yeah, running without a case would give you less area to hold on the sides.

The S6 Edge and S7 Edge would have been a nightmare for you, nobody should use those without a case

I'm quite taken with the Razer's design - as I was when the Nexbit Robin was released.

The phone is distinct and it will not be mistaken with the myriad of lookalike smartphones out there. I like the square edges and menacing design. And good for Razer for utilizing a rubberized backing - great for grip.

The lack of a headphone port does not bother me too much on this given the space needed for speakers and its large battery.

I look forward to reading and watching the reviews. They could convince me to sell my current Android device. Then again, I also have my eye on the Essential Phone.

Loving the 5.7"/16:9 format, power button fp reader, speakers and design. And if the refresh rate can truly be seen/felt while gaming that's awesome. Hope I can get to see this baby IRL. Great to have a fresh contender on the scene! :)

I hate that it has no headphone jack, but they at least gave the most valid reason to exclude it, as the phone had to fit a huge 4000mAh battery and those large Stereo Speakers.

Really is a shame it had no 3.5mm jack as it is a Multimedia Device.

I actually like the bezels on my 8 Plus.......It does provide a nice place to hold the phone. I can pick it up without having to touch the display.
The only reason why having little bezel does not bother me is simply that my V30 is as light as a feather.

If it were heavier, I'd struggle.

Like the Note 8, too much screen and edge, too little to hold.

$700 right? Reasonable price, although the bezels are still pretty huge for a 2017 phone, and those squared edges, ouch. But why bother? The SOC is similar to what other flagship phones have, so I don't think mobile games will run any better. I would assume most mobile stuff is optimized for 4gb so I'm not sure the 8gb will help.

Also the main Achilles heel IMO is that mobile games kind of suck. It's not like I can play a modern PC or PS4 game on my phone. The only saving grace I see is the 4000mah battery.

believe the adapter has a built in DAC too.

Anyone comment on the Quick Charge 4+ this has?

Supposedly the dual speakers found in those bezels sound pretty awesome. At least if you have a bezel, give it some functionality.

The 120 Hz refresh rate is a pretty great additional as well. Having seen it work firsthand on an iPad Pro, I’d love to have it on my phone.

I think if you value battery life this phone I imagine has to fit the bill. 4000 mah with the ability to change refresh rates and it's variable automatically should mean great battery life.

It is nice to see a company (Razer) buy another (nextbit) and not thrown everything they did before acquisition out the window (I'm looking at you fitbit). The nextbit Robin is a pretty solid phone, I will say that I hope they improved the fingerprint reader in the power button - in the Robin it is pretty hit or miss.

I've got one mounted on the wall to cast google music through the house - the frugal man's sonos. Six chromecast audios connected to various speakers.

Any place but here or there....
I quite like a lot of things about Razer's new phone (display refresh rate, speakers, big battery and price point.) Unfortunately, Android and I do not mix.

I am very curious about reviews though.

I'm waiting to see how this battery really performs now. There are phones with 4000mAh batteries that are losing to phones with ~3300-3500mAh in battery tests.

The S8 active I have is a beast with battery life, I get like 8hrs screen on time, and it has a 4,000mah battery. With this running stock android it should be even better.
