Battery Capacity and Stock Android isn't everything, a lot of optimisation needs to be done under the hood. The S8 active I have is a beast with battery life, I get like 8hrs screen on time, and it has a 4,000mah battery. With this running stock android it should be even better.
I’m jelly. You have the phone I wish I had waited for. I wasn’t sure if they were going to do an Active version this year, and if so, that it would be any good. But they did and it’s good and I’m jelly. The S8 active I have is a beast with battery life, I get like 8hrs screen on time, and it has a 4,000mah battery. Hmm...kind of a disappointing conclusion about what it brings to or out of the mobile gaming niche, given all of the limitations Razer has no control over. It’s not like the situation with Nintendo where they design the games and the hardware to complement each other. It’s still a cool phone and not a bad price. With that form factor and limited camera specs and lack of water resistance, I just can’t see it supplanting other established and more well rounded Android phones as a single phone/daily driver for most people. Niche phone is niche and even other phones can do that niche competitively, if that review is anything to go by.For those interested here's the full GSMArena Review

It is a good first go by Razer, hopefully the battery life will see increases with updates as the hardware (huge battery) is there, just a matter of taming that IGZO 120Hz Display.
Indeed. It's at best a glorified standard Android Flagship, but at the same time it's not a bad thing, means the phone is decent. That Standout feature of a 120Hz display is unfortunately also it's downfall, a little too soon for it as it eats battery and there is not enough content for it.Hmm...kind of a disappointing conclusion about what it brings to or out of the mobile gaming niche, given all of the limitations Razer has no control over. Yeah and the form factor is kind of appealing for gaming. It’s just not appealing to carry to the office or around in pockets or folios. Other than some of us phone nuts on this forum, I don’t know anybody who carries two phones unless one is a business issue phone and the other is for personal use. This could be a hard sell even for my husband’s gaming nerd friends. I initially thought it would bring new capabilities to the table just based on the casual impression I formed of it, even so, like I said, it was going to stay in the house for the whole family to use.Indeed. A decent effort by Razer but nothing special.
I see this phone eventually going for very cheap and being sold with some high-end accessories of theirs. Sure there will be tons of these sitting at stands at gaming conventions. Hi f Razer are clever they will partner up with Mobile Gaming companies to use the Razer phone as their demo phones for the games at conventions and stores. Still good opportunity for Razer here.

I would too...its more of a finished product.I think you need something to hold onto for sure.I hope for their sake there is a large enough market for this, I'd certainly get this over the Essential PH-1 if I were to pick a 2017 Newbie device.

Agreed. I just can't get myself to like the Essential Phone, I feel like it was trying way too hard to be different.I would too...its more of a finished product.
