Funny how people have different opinions of the same products. I find the Apple mouse to be the most accurate mouse on the market, and the scrolling to be perfect. The problem I have is that it's about the most uncomfortable mouse I've ever held (including the infamous Apple Hockey Puck mouse).

I feel like the Logitech MX Pro is a great balance, if not a tad on the "heavy" side.

I feel the pain of the people here. I used windows for 12 years. After using macOS on two devices for a year now (opencore hackintosh) I still feel like I can't control the mouse nearly as fast as in windows. If I can't find a solution, I might even consider writing a kernel extension that solves the problem. As a windows user it feels like you're getting slowed down all the times in your workflows, cranking the sensitivity all the way up is no solution because you can't control smaller distance movements then.

As far as I understood the problem, the windows acceleration is not archived by using one acceleration value, and therefore can't be integrated properly using the macOS settings.

Yep another person who gets frustrated over how clunky the mouse feels in macOS. Whether we're talking about th janky scroll wheel, or the mouse movement - just my $.02

I found out that the windows mouse acceleration code is not public, but it is believed that it uses 2-3 thresholds at which the mouse is accelerated. There where several attempts to replicate the windows implementation, one of those is exactmouse by steelseries. I just started experimenting with it, maybe this works.

EDIT: This only disables the default mouse acceleration by macOS, so its not what im looking for

EDIT2: For now the closest coming software is SteerMouse, I use a setting of ~0.6 as acceleration value. That already feels alot better. Im really surprised that there is no exact information on this since it should not be that hard to reverse engineer.

Best thing you can do is just completely disable mouse accelleration on all the computers you use, be it Mac or Windows.

You'll get used to it, and if down the line you end up playing FPS games on M/KB, you'll find you have very good control as you've been subconsiously aim training the whole time during desktop usage.

I don't think this works since you are controlling your facing in a 3D environment to play fps games while desktop usage is just moving a cursor in a 2D pane. I think mouse acceleration is a good thing since you have to move your mouse less around while staying precise on smaller movements. However, the macOS acceleration seems impossible to work with, it feels like the mouse gets slowed down on bigger movements which makes no sense to me.
Im glad I got it semi-fixed now

There's a lot of controversy surrounding this Apple Magic Mouse 2.
Multi-touch is a good idea, but the rest of the product sucks.
I'm not reselling it, that wouldn't be honest.
I'm not giving it to anyone, it's a poisoned chalice.

Many recommend the Logitech MX Master 3S.
I had the opportunity to test the handling in store, I wasn’t convinced.

Finally, I bought the Logitech Pro X Superlight (first version, on sale and cheaper than the MX).
As its name suggests, it is very light and many people may not appreciate.
G HUB (logitech drivers/software for this model) is compatible with macOS.
I'm glad using a precision mouse on macOS.

In order to compare :
Apple Magic Mouse 2
MX Master 3S
Logitech Pro X Superlight

My Linear Mouse configuration :

I use an MBP M1 and the trackpad is so impressive.
Connect to an external display, the Magic Trackpad is probably a solution to consider?!

Thank you for those redirection us Windows users to "Linear Mouse". It's free, and works very well.
I can't decide if I'm back to real Windows sensitivity, but it's a heck lot better.

And to all the Apple people thinking there is nothing wrong, you don't know how unprecise it is to switch over to Mac when you are a Windows gamer. It just does not work.

Okay so it was literally just the Magic Mouse. I connected a basic Logitech mouse and it more or less feels like what I'm used to.

The Magic Mouse kinda sucks, tbh.
I have been on Macs for years and I've tried the magic mouse twice, the magic mouse sucks. Literally any basic logitech mouse is much better, in my opinion.

Although it is not perfect, I went into the "Advanced" section in the "Mouse" setting menu & turned off pointer acceleration. Although not perfect, it feels a lot better! (Granted, I do not use an Apple Magic Mouse, but a Logitech G403).
