My 2019 iPad Pro was on my cars battery while I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my car. I was on a FaceTime call with a friend who is a mechanic. I had a pry bar and flashlight in my hand. I lost my balance somehow and the 3 foot pry bar ended hitting my iPad and it went flying. I still don't know exactly what went wrong. It was in a case but well I will let the pictures do the talking.

I wonder if Apple Care+ I have will cover this.... I don't expect it to.... But very upsetting.

Yikes, that’s upsetting.

I had the first iPad Pro and loved it. Used it in my garage when I was doing a ton of work on my car. Cleaned up and threw away all the boxes and parts…guess I ended up throwing away the iPad as well because that’s the last time I ever saw it.

I did that with a IPod. I had it hooked up to my stereo in the garage, cleaned up the garage and went to get my iPod... not there. Looked everywhere except the boxes I put the trash in. 3 days later I was like I bet I accidentally threw it out. I see a pattern here. Garages and Apple products don't mix.

Good god man! If Apple won't help you, buy your replacement at Costco, so if it happens again, you can just return it. Costco will take anything back.

They stopped that years ago for electronics. Especially if it was obvious accidental damage. People doing just that killed it for the HONEST people out there. People need to take responsibility for their actions.

I dropped mine on my fireplace hearth; it was badly cracked, though not as bad as yours. I contacted Apple, explained the situation and asked for a replacement. (They do that with Applecare+ so you aren’t without a device.) My replacement was here within a couple of days; there was a hold on my credit card until I took the broken IPP to the FedEx store and then it was removed.)

Relatively easy—they should cover this without any problem.

It’s unfortunate they stopped it at your location, but all the ones by me (7 in the South Bay Area) still accept returns on electronics. I’ve done it multiple times as recently as last month.

It was a number of years ago but I left my iPad mini 2—in a case—on the top of my car. Realized my mistake seconds before it flew off and got run over by at least three cars behind me.

It was no longer under AppleCare (not sure 'plus' even existed then) but because it would still boot, they charged me just the flat "repair" fee to replace it with an equivalent refurb. Take it into to Apple.

I believe AC+ will cover that. You will be given a refurbished iPad.

Apple will do it but first we have to get it erased, and Find Mine turned off... Problem is it won't do either. It's turned on and even with Apples help it won't do either.

You can delete it from your account online or turn Find My off without needing to do it from the device. I'd imagine you can erase it this way as well, but even if it fails to erase they should be able to replace it.

Apple is rather picky about having "Find My" turned off first. That requirement has to be done before they will put a replacement into the computer.

We tried both methods. We removed it from my account so it no longer shows up on my list of devices, but on the find me side it shows it is still active through the Find Me App, and through iCloud.com. But it's from 9:05 pm last night. They had me do a find me tone, it did not go off. They are very confused as to why. We did a remote session so they could see things on my end. It matched what they were seeing. Something must be damaged to the point it won't disconnect or who knows.

At that point I'd take it into the store to sort it out. As they have to have a process for it to be handled properly. Otherwise, a broken screen would never be fixable.

As far as I am aware, Apple will have to scrap the iPad (instead of refurbishing it for someone else) if the activation lock can't be turned off.
