Check out post 41. m3coolpix posted a link for hosts files. Just google mvphosts or winhelp hosts file and you can use that. Any host file will work. Heck, you could download several of them, merge them, and remove all silicates if you really wanted to. Just find a popular one (the 2 I referenced are updated frequently) and periodically check for updates. When there's an update, replace your modified hosts file with the new one. Let me know if you can't figure it out.
Edit: I should mention the file path is /etc. In that folder you'll see the original hosts file. Rename that or append a "1" or add "backup" to the file name. You want to keep this in case you need to temporarily allow ads. Just insert the new hosts file in this folder and you're good to go. Just make sure the name is "hosts" (without the quotations obviously).
Edit again: If you want an even more aggressive "junk" blocking solution, you can use the Ghostery browser app. Not sure if any of you are familiar with, or currently use, the Ghostery browser extension for FireFox and Chrome, but that's a great solution too. It's not the best iOS browser right now, but they are working to make it better. It blocks those annoying social media buttons too, like twitter, Facebook, and google circles (whatever its called lol). I use that browser from time to time when I want additional junk blocking/privacy.
