Will Other Purchases Go Free To Web & Production Premium Instead of Design Premium?

I would encourage everyone thinking about the free upgrade deal where you purchase CS 2.3 Premium for example and then get a free upgrade to CS 3 Design Premium. I went to our student store on campus where I work and picked up my copy of CS 2.3 Premium. I had them order it a few days ago. I was told this was one of 60 copies that particular distributor had in stock. So if that is true supplies may be dwindling in other places. I am calling Adobe today to get the upgrade processed. :D
Is this only available from CS 2.3 to CS 3 Design Premium? Or are there other options from other packages to CS 3 Web Premium and CS Production Premium?

I can't find a reference to what products may go free to what new products on the Adobe site. What about the Macromedia Studio 2006 to Web Premium? What about After Effects to Production Premium?

Seems to be a PRINT "Design" biased product upgrade.

Question: is it possible to crossgrade from PC to Mac!? I'm switching a friend - but I've heard that Adobe won't allow a crossgrade anymore

There is a PDF that details what if available for what. If you search Adobe for teh Adobe Creative Suite 3 Post Announce Policy you should find what you need. I actually wanted the Design Premium so I followed the PDF and bought the cheaper 2.3 for that reason. You can get a free upgrade to CS 3 Web Premium and Web Standard as well. I don't know if the price is cheaper for those produts. You have until June 25th to do this. The PDF shows a free upgrade fro CS 2 Standard to CS3 Design Standard. The web bundle gets a free upgrade to CS3 Design Premium or CS3 Web Standard. After much research it seemed to me that the Design Premium yielded the best cost for free ratio. It results in a $200 savings. The good part is the upgrade is the commercial version. There is no EDU upgrade. You then call Adobe and register the CS 2.3 over the phone and fax in your receipt and the case number they give you. Takes a while but it is worth it. Especially since I was going to get the Design Premium anyway before I saw the deal. Again the student store where I work was told that only 60 copies were at their distributor so if you are thinkin of doing the deal don't wait.

I also pulled this one. Awesome deal! I ordered the upgrade but I am confused about faxing the receipt.
What info do we need to include?
(I'm assuming customer id and order id.)
Fill us in if you have any more info.

thanks

All you need to do is call Adobe and get a case number. You provide them with the valid serial numbers of your current product, CS 2.3 Premium and date of purchase. Then you fax your receipt and that case number to Adobe pay them $6.35 for shipping and there you go. It was simple but took a little while.

The PDF I mentioned that details the upgrade is now missing from the Adobe site. But the deal is good until June 25th 07 for web and design upgrades. If you are doing a video upgrade from Production Studio Premium or After Effects and Premiere you have until August 28th 07 for free upgrades to those products.

I'll let you know when I try to install my Web Premium upgrade on my new MacPro. I pre-ordered the upgrade based on my Windows version of StudioMX. Supposedly, delivery will be on the 24th.

I can't find it. Would you mind finding it again and posting a link here please?

It appears to no longer be available on the Adobe site. I got a copy from the student store on campus where I work. Here is the info from that one page PDF

Why would they remove the PDF from their site? That has me wondering if the offer is dead.

The deal is not dead you have until sometime in August to do the deal. Call Adobe and ask if you aren't sure. There were not many copies of CS 2.3 Premium left when I purchased mine. Perhaps Adobe pulled the PDF because of that.

Well, I did the upgrade and download this morning. Just backing up the dmg files to DVD right now. I've opened the apps and uninstalled all the CS2 apps, too. So far, so good.

Adobe CS3 for Mac was leaked last Friday, if you know where to look for it.

I'm surprised since not that much software escapes from production nowadays before going on sale. Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to launch it before actually selling it :(

I planned to buy the CS3 suites, but after seeing the UK pricing Adobe can f**k right off. Until they stop shafting UK consumers then I feel no guilt whatsoever.

They run a monopoly so basically they can do what they want.

UK Academic/Charity CS3 Design Premium = £455 each ex. VAT.
We'll be ordering four copies within the next month or so.

Question: is it possible to crossgrade from PC to Mac!? I'm switching a friend - but I've heard that Adobe won't allow a crossgrade anymore

I've found this to be true. Adobe is forcing Windows to Mac switchers to pay the full retail price--no crossgrade option available. I guess I'll stick to using my tried and true StudioMX via Parallels (or Boot Camp). I won't be purchasing anything from Adobe anytime soon. This is no way to treat their licensed customers, IMHO.

Update: The above information is what I received from an Adobe sales agent using Adobe's on site chat script.

So I decided to call and see if I can get a crossgrade of StudioMX. The very nice sales agent told me Adobe can't do that but they'll let me upgrade to CS3 at the modest upgrade fee I had originally expected. :) But in doing so, I will have to sign an agreement to destroyed my StudioMX license to which I happily agreed. But under further discussion I found I could do a straight upgrade using my StudioMX 2004 license number without any delay or destruction agreement. This since StudioMX 2004 released the Mac and Windows version under the same license (and on the same disk). So I'm currently downloading CS3 Web Premium as a happy Adobe customer.

Switching from Windows to a Mac

Further Update to my previous post:

I tested the CS3 install using my Windows Studio 8 license number on the Mac version of the upgrade and it worked. So I fretted over nothing. To further explain, I got worried when I looked at the Adobe site and saw two different file sizes for the upgrade (2.2GB) and retail version (3.2GB). This prompted me to investigate further. Anyway, as I originally suspected, if you upgrade at the same time you switch from Windows to a Mac the process will be just as smooth as if you weren't changing platforms. :apple:

where did you order? adobe.com? we have a photoshop cs1 windows- what you are saying is that it works to upgrade to a mac version instead? me happy in that case :D

or maybe not - since your license was "dualOS" and our code is windows-specific :(

I bought the download version straight from Adobe.

The upgrade path I took was from Macromedia's StudioMX. I can't vouch for an upgrade from an earlier Creative Suite. The sales person I spoke with was very helpful...I'd pick up the phone and give Adobe sales a call. Be prepared for a long wait on hold.

I just got my upgrade to CS3 from CS 2.3 Premium. Were it not for Macrumors, I wouldn't have found out about this deal. Thanks! :)

Adobe's web-chat customer service is useless. Virtually everything they told me was flat-out incorrect and uninformed.

I spoke to Adobe about upgrading the software within Studio 8, and it turns out that individual products within the suite are not available for upgrade. In other words, if you own Studio 8, you can't upgrade a standalone version of Fireworks CS3 -- you have to buy a Suite. People with CS2 or Studio 8 who want to upgrade individual pieces of software within the suite without buying the various CS3 Suites need to pay full retail for a full version... no upgrade pricing allowed!

I bought the Design Premium from Amazon with a scheduled shipping date of the 20th. Unfortunately the 20th has come and gone, and it has yet to be shipped. No idea when I might get it.

I pre-ordered with Adobe since March 30, and I'm still waiting as well. I read on the Adobe forums that the shipping date has been pushed to April 23rd, so we'll see.

Quick follow-up -- Amazon orders for CS3 have been pushed to mid-to-late May.

I don't get this, why is the full CS3 suite avilable already... but stand alone versions could be ages away...

Amazon.co.uk has all the standalone CS3 boxes marked as "This item will be released on April 30, 2007. Pre-order now! Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk."

Just got the upgrade yesterday for Design Premium. It never showed up in the Adobe Store under my orders so I was paranoid. But now it's all good. I ordered a copy of Photohops CS3 at work and it showed up today. I had ordered the DP upgrade on the 11th so two weeks is not bad. Less for PS CS3.
