Hello everyone, I have both a Dell S2725QC and a Dell U2724D. If you have any question, please ask. I will have the U2724D until Tuesday.

may be a dumb question, does this monitor support 4k at 120hz. I am confused as some say it does 120hz max at 1440p
On the Dell Australia S2725Q page it says:

Supports up to UHD 3840 x 2160, 120 Hz, FRL, HDR, VRR as per specified in HDMI 2.1

As per this reddit guy I quoted earlier, I suspect whether it's the S, P or U series, as long as it's a -24 (i.e., S2724 or P2724 or U2724) or later model, much of the flickering is gone.

Does anybody know if the only difference between the S2725QC and S2725S is that the former includes the USB hub?

Are there any other differences?

Only difference is USB-C connectivity.

Q = 4K
S = height adjustable stand
C = USB-C

All Dell USB-C monitors have HAS, so "S" isn't needed when "C" is already featured.

Any Idea what is the meaning for the E suffix for in the P2725QE? It is significantly more expensive, without obvious differences in the panel.

E gives you an Ethernet port.

The P-series usually gets you a panel with better uniformity and less bleed. It's not something they list in the spec sheet. P-series also get standard 3-year warranty, higher USB-C PD rating, and a couple cm of height adjustment (better stand).

So just to potentially help people looking for it in future, I got S2725QS (firmware: M3B101, I don't believe there's newer firmware at the moment) which is of course not S2725QC (mine has DisplayPort 1.4 instead of USB-C), and attached it first to my old MacBook Pro 16" 2019 (Intel with Radeon 5300M 4GB).

Well, it works (up to 120Hz via DisplayPort) but only for a moment - and then monitor can't find active port. Disabling auto-switching doesn't help, LCD Conditioning is not even active on QS. I tried switching both DP and HDMI cables (yes, yes, yes). And of course used both Apple original dongle but also through Anker one (as sometimes the one from Apple won't work).

Then... I remembered ancient scripts of "automated graphics switching" and after disabling it - it works. Unfortunately, until first sleep or attempt to change resolution (or refresh rate) - then it again goes into limbo of trying to find active port (and can't find one). That is also true for both clamshell & open mode of operation. Interestingly enough, fans are more noisy than with two Studio Displays which likely means MacOS can't properly evaluate what's connected over the DP and just runs fans full speed.

Note, MacBook Pro requires external power supply to operate with graphics card switching disabled and this Dell, otherwise it shows screen once for ~15 seconds and disables itself again. Tested both with new 140W Apple power supply and Anker GaN 140W one.

On the other hand - it works flawlessly with Mac Mini M2 Pro connected via Thunderbolt port to DP, haven't tested HDMI. 120Hz, any resolution, HDR, Night Mode, anything you wish for - works. No problems sleeping/waking up. So, I guess, it's great 120Hz monitor if you don't plan to use it with Intel Macs ;P

[Edit: yes, MacBook Pro M1 Pro also doesn't have any problem running the display even without external power supply (on battery) - 4k, 120Hz, HDR, etc - via DP to USB-C/Thunderbolt cable]

Hello I have the Dell S2721DGF with 165Hz and want to buy a new 4K Display, because of sharpness. What do you think, should I get the S2725QC or U2723QE? U2725QE is to expensive for me. I like the smoothness of 165Hz. I think 120Hz should be good enough, but is the picture quality of the U2723QE much better?

I have the exact same setup, a DELL S2721DGF which I use vertically and the S2725QC as my main monitor. I use these from a mac, one running at 144hz and one running at 120hz.

There is some difference in refresh hz but not very noticeable unless you're gaming, so should be more than good enough for usual tasks other than gaming. I don't think the picture quality of the U2723QE would be better given both are 4k displays.

The only nitpick I have is that the colors of S2725QC are a bit on the warmer side but other than that both are great monitors.

oh cool that you are using both. Would you say the sharpness is much more better on the S2725QC? What about colors, contrast, etc.?

Yeah the S2725QC is def sharper because of the resolution bump. I'm using a macbook so none of the displays are running at native resolutions. The contrast and colors are pretty similar I think, nothing obvious I could tell with my naked eyes.

Thanks. Do you run the S2725QC at 1080p or 1440p?

ok great, I have a macMini Pro M4 and I would like to run this resolution too on a 4K display.

How are all the owners of this model feeling about it now after owning it for a while?

Any problems? I know somebody in here had image retention on theirs after just a couple of weeks.

Thanks. It’s so hard deciding which monitor with these specs to get.

Only that the little clip for the wires snapped. This LCD is a keeper for me.

Have had mine since for a few months now. Zero issues. Fantastic display and exactly what I was looking for.

Are two of these supported at full res to the macbook with a M3 pro chip? If so how (e.g., via a TB dock or directly)?

Just got myself one, upgrading from a 32" 1440p monitor and the pixel density is noticeably better. Everything looks super sharp on 1440p scaled with BetterDisplay and HiDPI on.

So, Dell recently launched what appears to be a successor of for their previous quite popular(?) model S2722QC. It is called S2725QC, a 99% sRGB, 65W USB C, 4K@120Hz, 1500:1 static contrast ratio 4K monitor. Pretty good on paper if you ask me.

As someone with M1 Air, and after weeks and weeks of delibration and lots of reading I thought this would be a perfect monitor for me.

Well, except, the flickering. As of couple of days ago I have been exploring the rather painful world of M silicon and external monitors flickering issues. ( https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macbook-pro-m1-external-screen-flickering.2325279/page-9 )

Dell one was particularly affected by it.

However, this 2025 version of that model, might have fixed it? I don't know. What are your thoughts about it?

I did contaact Dell about this and what they told me is that "It is not a macos compatible monitor so even if you experience flickering, you won't be able to return it"
The flickering for me is turning on and off and it makes a loud popping sound every now and then like an electrical shorting sound. Eventually it's on and off so often it's useless -- but not as useless as Dell Support is. It took months to get them to acknowledge it is a compatibility issue (even though that's how I presented it).
