I’m not sure if this has been reported yet but i’ve Had an IPad Air 3 since 08/04/19 and today I notice a small white bright spot on the notes screen. I’m off to the Genius Bar on Friday. I took the attached photo with my Mini 5 as the dot won’t show on screenshots. The white line under the dot in the photo is on my mini 5. I’m going to talk to them about that too.

I’ve had an Air 3 for just over a week and I’ve noticed a much smaller but similar white mark in the top left corner of the screen in portrait orientation.
I wasn’t going to bother doing anything about it since it’s pretty small, and only visible at all when the screen is white, with fairly high brightness, and at certain angles. In other words, like 99% of the time it’s not visible.

Still, I’d be very interested in knowing what you learn from the Genius Bar. Please keep us posted.

I got mine replaced by aasp due to that white little dot, it wasnt even that visible like yours. It was in left corner. It looks like yours is developing a bright spot as well

So they replace the unit? No repair? Did they give you a brand new one or a refurb?

Apple replacements are a mix of refurb and new. Nobody can tell for sure if they get a new or refurb. But Apple refurbs are same as new.
Yes, apple replaces with new and refubrished units but you can check if your device is refubrished or new by serial number, its a letter, and mine shows its a brand new unit. I think that apple havent even refubrished ipad air 2019 yet becouse its just too new

Replacements start with N or F.

F is guaranteed refurb.

N could be new or refurb. You can’t say for sure.

A very small white spot on my Air 3, which is not at all visible under most conditions (I had to make the background white, turn up the brightness high, and hold it at just the right angle just to get these pics).

I can't decide if I should bother replacing it or not.

not sure it’s worth the trouble of setting up an appointment, going to the Apple Store (which is always busy on weekends, even with an appointment), and setting up a new device, over a small blemish that can’t even be seen 99% of the time. I went out of my way to make it as visible as possible for the pics. I will have to give it some thought.

Thanks for the posts. Glad you are getting them replaced.

I've been babying mine, just stop using when it begins to get warm etc. I'll definitely take it in should a white spot arise. I guess that's the risk of buying an iPad with that 10.5" chassis.

Meh. If it’s not there 99% of the time I wouldn’t bother going through the hassle personally.

interesting. Sorry you have to deal with this, but glad that it’ll be fixed soon. I love my air 3...hopefully it doesn’t happen.

If it's not obvious yet, just wait until it gets worse enough to bother you before exchanging. If you don't have AC+, exchanging near the 12-month mark gets you 90 days extended coverage.

Is it getting worse a certainty?

I was thinking the same, but on the other hand, if I’m going to replace it I figure the sooner I do the more likely I am to get a new unit rather than a refurb.

True but getting a new unit is no guarantee that the replacement won't develop the white spot issue again.

Granted, in the grand scheme of things, the extra 90 days probably doesn't mean much.

I would just rather have a new device than a refurb (who wouldn’t?). It’s not so much that I’m worried about it developing a spot.

Do these spots tend to get worse or develop over time if they weren’t there from the start? I noticed mine during the set up process.

These little white marks shouldnt get worse over time, but big bright white spot above the home button will

Just received new Air 3 last week and no spots so far. Turned up brightness to max with white background and the display is consistent. I wonder if spots are usually immediate as an issue of manufacture, or can develop over time (per previous comments)?

On the other hand, sometimes I think we get a little compulsive looking for problems we'd otherwise never notice unless obvious.

From bright spot reports on the iPad Pro 10.5, they seem to develop over time.

In any case, I'm getting monthly AppleCare+ for my Apple devices going forward. Should be useful for battery replacement as well which is $99 for iPad OOW.
