For those of you afraid of using Lock-Tite, I mentioned it to a Genius Bar person and he said they use it themselves. So no need to be afraid of it.

One thing I still can’t figure out is why it seems to be only the right ear people have issues with. Also, my two friends that also have AirPods Pro’s do not even have this issue. They’ve had theirs for two months and still pass the fit test with no issue.

I keep my ears pretty clean, so why do I have the issue yet they don’t? That’s what I don’t get. I know it’s clogging that’s causing it as blue tak/lock-tite works. But why always the right ear and why is this not something everyone has an issue with? ?

Its not just the right ear. Both of mine fail when they get dirty.

Interesting. I just know the majority of the reports I’ve seen here and on twitter have been the right ear. I think I’ve read every comment on this thread lol.
Earlier today I mentioned mine was passing the test after I got some Blue-Tak but now it’s failing on the right. If I run the test about 5 times, I’d get a fail to the right about 3 times and pass the other 2.

Yeah, I think you’re right, Easttime. As long as your APPs sound good and ANC and Transparency work as they should, that’s all that matters. If they don’t sound as good as they should—as they did when they were new—call Apple Support, take them in, and get them replaced.

Both of mine failed, but this was in the first couple weeks after release so the cleaning technique had not yet been hit on.

I think the solution is to ignore the fit test and enjoy the music. That’s my plan anyway.

i couldn’t do that. When the fit test started failing, ANC seemed to become worse, but more specifically the bass response went to ****. Out of the box, the pros sounded much better than my older AirPods. Once the fit test started failing, back to back comparisons with my old AirPods had the pros sounding worse. I could tell when the fit test was going to fail without even looking as there would be zero bass in the music snippet.

I did the Blue-tac fix this weekend and it's been a night and day difference for mine! Everything sounds better, the noise cancelling is way more effective, and after having them not pass the fit test for weeks they are both green! Amazing!

So, how can we reach out to a real engineer at Apple? We have pretty much Done all the test to clearly know that body/ears oils clog the inner mic grill. This impacts the ANC, Transparency and bass performance. Furthermore, it impacts the pressure equalizing valve and may cause ear pressure that is NOT present when the AirPods Pro are new.

Got replacements since right one was not passing. Replacement ones now both pass the test and come with firmware 2B588. Sounds much better.

Here is what I have noticed so far... I clean the vents with blu tak - passes ear test. I wear the headphones throughout the day and they continue to pass. I go to the gym, and they fail the test the next day until I clean the vents.

I'll try the fit test immediatly after my workout to see if that narrows it down.

Mine definitely need cleaning more quickly when I'm also wearing them to work out. Typically after just 1-2 days whereas it might go a week if I just wear them at my desk.

Any suggestions on how to use the Blu Tak correctly? I purchased the Staples-branded one. Hopefully it'll work.

Well, this is frustrating. I had the left APP replaced due to mic issues. The new one passed the fit test for a few days. I used Blu Tak on the right one and it passed (after a few "cleanings"). So for a day or two, both were passing the test, and the sound improved. They just held a sealed better. Today, while listening at work, neither right nor left is passing. I guess Blu Tak is an "accessory" that I have to carry with my Airpods!

Depending on usage you may need to do it every few days.

Went to an Apple store to replace and the tech said they could give me news buds but the problem would be the same. Said he needed to replace the case and buds since im on the latest software 2C54. Said if he gave me just new buds they would update. He did say this is a known issue and Apple is workin on a fix but doesn't know when one is coming. I can't get my incase case off my APP (lol) so i said I'd wait a bit to see if a fix comes and if not he was noting the system for me to get a replacement later.

I did find it funny he had blue tak and alcohol wipes to use if needed but commented my APP were the cleanest he had seen and had no use for those products.

Just an update. Fit test working before my workout. Fit test not working after my workout until I cleaned them again.
