I was 9th in line at a 9am opening local Apple Store and the person in front of me got the last ones. They told me to try back tomorrow.

Being 45 minutes away from the nearest Apple store I am wondering if anyone has had any luck finding airpods in retailers other than Apple Stores. Thanks.

Holy crap, you think folks would read your post before replying. Maybe mine will get people to respond for what we want to know.

Queens center mall Apple Store had a lot. I arrived at 10 after an hr of being open. No line. No wait. Got a set and there were more left. Rep said they sold a lot when they opened.

I was first in line at 7:20 at the Northlake Apple in charlotte and about 10 people by opening. They wouldn't disclose how many they received but said they would be out in 5 mins.

Nooo.. can you pick me up a pair? I'm stuck at work. :(

I'm not sure of how long everyone on here as been "in this game", but I long long ago now stopped with lining up for anything from Apple.

I'll get them when they come someday.
This game of theirs of "hunt and seek" for their products lost its luster in about 2010 or so for me.

I wish there was a way to check online for stock as I hate calling anyone on the phone :)

What's ridiculous about this is that it's not like there's enough stock for the stores that some random "Mom" who happens to stroll through is going to make a surprise impulse buy.

People even aware of the AirPod in-store launch today are the same people who want to just buy online. We also aren't buying "other stuff" just because you forced us to come to your store and hang out with red shirted former baristas that know less about all the products than everyone here.

Just make them online shipping available and get them to as many as you can before xmas.

Stop the games Apple.

i dunno if that's the company line or what.

"Just come on into the store! While you're here check out our new Mac Pro's!"

Went to the store in Grand Central around 11:15 today. Asked a few employees if they had any, and they said that they had some earlier in the morning, but don't have them anymore. Walked around the store for another 10 minutes or so, and right before I walked out an employee came out from the back with about 25 AirPods. Was able to purchase one. Talk about luck!

I went to 2 locations that are in my way to work. The Glendale location opens at 8, so I went there first.

They didn't have any, so I backtracked and went to Pasedena. There was already a line, around 8:30 (they open at 9).

They took our names and I saw a few people from the last location I was at. As soon as they opened they lined us up. They brought out a few boxes so people panicked at the small number the employee was holding. Some people bought two, which agitated others waiting. Some people joked, others were visibly upset.

They were sold out. They counted the line and the person before me was told "you're probably the last person". Then the typical "sorry, come back again, really sorry". I waited anyways. I called a few retail outlets but none had it.

Then someone walks out with more. I got extremely lucky. I was probably one of the last ones to purchase a pair. Haven't played with then yet.

Local Best Buy usually gets Apple stuff on launch day. I got a Series 2 AW on launch day at that store without preorder earlier this year. Rep who usually knows what they are talking about said that they were told not to expect store stock at Best Buy until Feb.

Nasty and unnecessary. You didn't get what you want so you are blasting apple. How about blaming yourself for not getting up and getting in line earlier.

How about Apple produce enough supply for demand and quick screwing around. Multi billion dollar company should not be having these acts of idiocracy. If they're for sale, they should be for sale. Not "for sale but impossible to find for 6 months". Ignorant business practice on their part. People literally line up to give them fist fills of cash and they don't want it bad enough to figure it out
