Spent a couple hours so far today wearing them. Don't find them uncomfortable at all. Ear cups are soft. I wear glasses and they haven't bothered me. Also I don't really think that they're heavy but I'm only sitting at my desk. I did walk with them on some and it was fine. I'll put my studio monitor headphones on when I get home to get a subjective weight difference.

Again, Apple themselves says "in order to put your APM into low power mode they must be inserted into the smart case."

Also, please go to 11:45 here and watch:

But go ahead and tell me again that the case doesn't matter and any old case will do because the case does nothing to preserve battery life. ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

this is getting tiresome. You keep misrepresenting my points and you keep making up statements...which when pushed on you drop. nothing I’ve said contradicts Apple’s statement. I just don’t feel the need to say the sky is falling down like you do. do you still insist you need the case to get 20 hours of play time? Lol

Mate stop defending the god awful case they have.

it’s a slap in the face for a consumer that this, this bra is the best their engineering talent could do

there is no way you will feel safe with your $500+ headphones travelling on long haul flights

all they had to do was do a case like the Sony XM4 and no one would criticise it at all.

I can see in a month or two people damaging and scuffing these whilst travelling, watch this space and you will see plenty of “my AirPods max are scratched/broken the mesh headband has a tear in it” posts and photos

Apple are a trillion dollar company, they are not your friend. You have to be able to criticise stupid decisions without taking it personally Tim Apple

sure when you stop trolling.

if you’ve read my posts you would know I’m not defending... there are two types of people in the world. Those that enjoy complaining, and those that like to solve problems. The case is here. Instead of whining I’m dealing with it. The power drain issue is overblown and I’m not the only one to understand that. it’s easier to complain but I’ve made positive suggestions on how to avoid the problems you list. That’s out of respect to the people who come here to exchange information and ideas to help move forward and make informed decisions.

but sure, go on and be person 56234 to say they’re ugly. No fricking duh. Thanks for the insight mate.

No issues with the weight and I think they're very comfortable. The ear cups breathe better than the standard leatherette ear cups.

I have to say....... I really didn't think I'd like these, but I think I do. I thought I'd just try them out and maybe return them or give them to someone else in my family. Now I think I might be keeping them.

My biggest problem is the price, even though I can easily afford them. The pathetic case is next on the list followed by the weight of the headphones.
Then just wait until it goes on sale. I could easily see $50-100 off in the next 6 months.

Do you realise there is low power mode and ultra low power mode? When you take them off your head they disconnect from your device and go into low power mode (Standby). When you put them in the smart case they go into ‘ultra low power mode‘ which uses even less power than the standby Low Power Mode.

I used them for about 10 hours today. They were pretty uncomfortable by 8 hours in.
I realize headphones can have a bit of 'break in' but then again these are mostly metal so I doubt they will 'flex' much as I wear them. It mostly feels like diagonal downward pressure around my ears and I do feel like the seal on them is a bit more than I am used to. I previously used wired Sennheiser 559s before which are 280 grams with soft fabric ear cups. These were sometimes tiring for me to wear but only heavy use for 8+ hours a day multiple days in a row with fewer breaks.
(I work remote and have a lot of calls)

The Max unfortunately switch to 16-bit sound quality during Zoom calls so don't expect any audio improvements there. Not sure if this is intended or if it's a quirk with Zoom . . .
(You can test this by starting a Zoom meeting and then playing music - it will sound like $5 headphones)

Lol, Ok. Do you still insist that the case is only designed to prevent scratches (of which it will do a very poor job of anyway)? I honestly don't want to go on with you either. You are at a different level of fandom than I am, which is fine, but I don't really like going back and forth with someone who constantly feels they need to defend Apple in areas they clearly failed at, which is their joke of a case that they produced here. The thread was started to talk about the comfort of the APM's, which I find a little better after a couple of days. If you want to throw in another comment by all means, fire away. But we are done here as far as I'm concerned.

I also do work remotely with a lot of calls and usually I am wearing this type of headphones for a long time during the day, for calls, music, and so on. Bose 700, Bose QC 35, Sony XM4 no issue at all with clamp pressure. The Airpods Max 6 hours in were very uncomfortable, it even gave me a headache and pain on the above skull part of the ears. I will put them over a set of books for some days to try to reduce the clamp pressure and see if they improve.

Any place but here or there....
Still trying to adjust my glasses with the cuffs as I get that pinch with the glasses frame (as I always do with cans), so I will try to stretch them out to alleviate the pinch.

I love the sound and the noise cancellation so I want to keep my APM.

cant even keep them in stock at full MSRP... claims will be on sale in 6 months lol

interesting... you dont own them do you...?
My friend has them and I used them for an hour. They are way to heavy, they look bland/boring, the mesh looks cheap and is cheap. The case is ridiculous and they sound like regular $200-$300 headphones. The wheel and button is nice but thats it. You can't fold them, putting them in a bag is going to cause damage unless you buy a giant case that will make them take up some serious space. They are $550 of wasted money.

Have you ever owned a premium product?

I think I've ultimately decided to return mine. With extended use they are really uncomfortable for me. They are better than they were yesterday, but still way heavier than I anticipated them to be. Walking around with them is ridiculous as you can just feel the weight of them bobbing up and down on your head. I hate taking them back becuase I do love the sound, but not enough to be this uncomfortable while wearing them.

You are describing exactly the experience that I had. The sound amazing but they are absurdly heavy. An absolute shame because the ANC is so good that you could go for a walk in the middle of a busy city without hearing anything.

Curious: if you were to bend over to tie your shoe, would they be at risk of falling off?

I have some very heavy audiophile grade headphones, and no way I could wear a headphone that heavy out in public.

I was thinking of getting these for when I’m out and about walking and on the bus. After hearing this I’m not so sure if they are strictly an at home headphones only.
