I see Currys (uk) has a place older on their site for these, but the info about charging them needs revising.

"Smart charging

Enjoy up to 20 hours of listening, movie watching or talk time, even with ANC and spatial audio enabled. Between listens, simply pop them back in their Smart Case to keep them topped up. If you're in a rush, a quick 5-minute charge gives you up to 1.5 hours of playback."
Just checked curry’s saying out of stock on ordering them.

For the new AirPods Max, can you pay for AC monthly and it be renewable or is AC for these headphones inlet for two years maximum?

thanks

And that just great for the environment, makes a mockery of them not sending a charger out with my iPhone 12 Pro Max to be more environmentally friendly, plus this is most likely built into the price as they can never be sold as new again so we all pay for it.
I'm not trying to go into a store right now and try on headphones, idk about you.

Ordered to try these out for myself as an audiophile! Sucks that it's not until February (that's what I get for waiting a day to decide)

EDIT: Re-ordered without engraving (possible re-sale value) and now got March 💀

The lightning->3.5mm jack cable is £35... will cheaper cables work?

It occurred to me that existing cables designed to send audio OUT of an iPhone lightning port to 3.5mm would need a digital->analog converter, but the Airpods Max would need an analog->digital converter to send audio IN to the headphones.

I also wonder whether the analog->digital converter chip in a cable, cheap or otherwise, might diminish the audio fidelity vs listening direct via bluetooth.

The main reason to use a cable would be to get zero latency, for video/sound editing purposes (and perhaps for games).

How likely would there be stock for pick up or walk ins next Tuesday?

Seems like Apple always have an inventory for that (eg. iPhones show as sold out for a few weeks during preorder period then come launch day there is stock available for click and collect.

I ordered. Match delivery. What Cables Chargers will I need to purchase? I don’t understand the need for lightening to 3.5mm cable.

What is the chance Apple will ship sooner?

Make sure you have a charging brick laying around- any should work, but 20w will be the fastest.

It comes with the cable you need to charge it.

No one knows if it'll come earlier than promised. Apple tends to ship earlier than promised, but it is no guarantee. Check best buy (the black one was available in 2 weeks last I checked at 8 pm EST) and in-store availability on launch.

What Best Buy return policy for open headphones? Apples has a really good return policy but I have gift cards/rewards to Best Buy. Is there a restocking fee? I seem to get mixed answers

As I understand it, the Lightening to 3.5mm cable is useful if, for example, you are on a plane and want to listen to the inflight movie/show or to connect to devices to listen to that are not Bluetooth capable (otherwise you can connect to the device without the cable using Bluetooth).

FYI for anybody who is still trying to snag some, Best Buy is currently accepting orders again for the Silver - no shipping date, just says Backordered. I feel better about it than the apple 12-16 week estimate for some reason, maybe since earlier today it was not available and then I suppose they re-enabled it, potentially indicating they have some other expected stock to sell.

At least, that's what I'm going to try to find out! I placed an order (this time on behalf of my mom to give to my brother) and will update y'all if I hear anything from them on it soon..my (optimistic) assumption is that on release day there will be some more stock released in all these stores or new ones so this would either ship then, or I'll try to find it for pickup in Apple or another store and cancel it.

I am late to the party as I waited a day to properly decide on colour choice - in my opinion Silver, Sky Blue and even the Green all look great. Always owned dark headphones so Space Grey were out of the running.

Decided to go for the Silver for my AirPods Max as its a classy, timeless look.

My Apple shipping date is 8th January which isn't too long to wait, I'm UK based.

Looking forward to seeing some proper audiophile reviews & comparisons against the market.

Best Buy Canada says "Release Date December 31" will be delivered December 31. What does that mean?

Sounds like it'll release from bestbuy Canada on Dec 31 - they may be getting their stock a bit later, it seems there are major supply constraints

So that might mean they get their delivery on Dec 31 and then maybe can distribute to preorders soon after, but as you say that might slip. I might leave my Apple order in for March - gives me time to see what the reviews look like and cancel if they dud.

Yes. There is no harm in keeping both orders in place and canceling whichever ships last.

Check their website. Bestbuy Canada states they have to be unopened within 30 days.

Ordered Sky Blue and Silver on release day with 15-17th delivery. Will probably keep the Sky Blue and return or gift the Silver. Can't wait!
