So I checked mine this morning having left them overnight in the case and they were at 95%. So in 21 hours they lost 5% with 35 minutes of usage.
They were still reading 100% after 7 hours and 35 mins of use and the reading only dropped from 100% to 95% between 7pm last night and 8.30am this morning.
I would expect that to improve a little as they are brand-new and battery needs to get up to speed.

Yes now I have this issue too, doesn’t matter if I keep them in the case or not, they lose around 10% per hour.

We've confirmed the standard 10% drain per 24 hours for a while now. I got this and it's been wonderful. Basically a cheap version of the kickstarter Max Stand project. I set it on this dock and it charges. No drain. Always ready at 100% for next use.

I know some worry about keeping devices at 100% for too long. All new devices have smart trickle charging software, so it's not an issue. Letting your battery drain 10% every day and go through more cycles is more detrimental than trickle charging at 100% conveniently on the dock. T

There are identical versions of this dock on Ali Express. It's very cheap and extremely functional. Looks great, minimal. I highly recommend it. It had greatly improved my AirPods Max experience. I usually get 10% drain with 3 hours of use. So battery life while in use is great. I have no drain issues bc of the dock. And it's a great stand/dock. All in one.

Hope everyone is enjoying these great headphones so far. They are very comfortable and I love the digital crown.

how easily can you just drop it on there? it is like the old oem lightning stands that apple used to offer?

The charging slot is very firm so the cable is held securely and does not push down with pressure. I line it up and pop it in. You get the hang of it quickly. Takes less than 3 seconds to line it up and plug in.

OK so I stopped using the bra case and the problem has not occurred again in A week. None of this madness of turning Bluetooth off on everything. Just simply stopped using that bra.

so now I’m 12 more hours later inside the smart case and 4% drain. The behavior is been this:

- From 2am to 10am (8h): 79% to 75% (0.5 drain/hour)
- From 10am to 10pm (12h) 75% to 67% (0.67 drain/hour)
- From 10pm to 10am (12h): 67% to 63% (0.33 drain/hour)

consider I connected my iPhone and MacBook to my AirPods max while there were inside the case, to verify a connection is possible even when they were inside , at 4pm.

Average:
16% in 28 hours: 0.57 drain/hour.

so I let my headphones for more than 2 days, for them to get into the ultra low power mode after the first 18 hours . This time I let them untouched for 56 hours , draining

so far we had:
- From 2am to 10am (8h): 79% to 75% (0.5 drain/hour)
- From 10am to 10pm (12h) 75% to 67% (0.67 drain/hour)
- From 10pm to 10am (12h): 67% to 63% (0.33 drain/hour)
- From 10am on Thursday to 6pm on Saturday (56h): 63% to 56% (0.125/hour)

Considering this last rate, it could last more than 33 day to go from 100 to 0%

the important thing it to make them get into ultra low power mode sooner than in 18 hours

Well, all of this has convinced me that mine aren't normal because I lose about 5% per hour, regardless of whether or not they are in the case. Resetting them multiple times (as suggested) hasn't changed anything, so I guess they go back.

I just wish there had been another update before I had to decide just to be sure it isn't a software issue that could've been fixed.

Again, just keeping them plugged in while not in use until a software fix comes is the best way to continue enjoying them. It's not a hassle for me to simply plug them in when I'm done. I gave up on the battery drain stuff until it's addressed. If it's never fixed then I'll just accept the 10% daily drain and charge them often

Update: Apple sent me a new set of AirPods Max. This pair works great. None or 1% battery drain overnight. A complete different experience than the first pair. I am VERY happy now. Ikve been using the new ones for 10 days now and I have zero issues.

Was this 1% drain from 100% charge?? With all Apple products you can never take any credence from 100%, it always lasts 4-5 times as long on 100%
If it wasn’t 100%, then maybe it’s a hardware change? Can’t see how else it could only drain 1% overnight, as it couldn’t have been in the ultra deep sleep mode

The reason for the drainage is that they are still connected to your device even when placed in the case and in sleep mode. I was able to resolve the overnight drainage by manually disconnecting in the Bluetooth settings and clicking on forget this device before placing it in the case.

That didn't work for me either. My phone shows disconnected, but they still drain. Some of us seem to have a different problem.

And what kind of solution is that anyway......ludicrous that you’d have to do this every time

I have been testing this for a few other reasons and one thing that I discovered, is that they battery drains less outside of the smart case than it does inside it.

Charged my headphones on Friday night to 100%, left them out of the case, just picked them up, nearly 40 hours later and they are at 90%. Very odd

I want to not use the case but the headphones feel awkward without it. Especially the clicking ear cups.

Maybe is connected to other device by the automatic switching feature. Are you sure you performed the hard reset properly? until the white light blinks?
You can verify if you did it well by checking on your devices , on bluetooth settings , that the AirPods max dont appear there anyone. Also verify that in Find My they are not appearing.

This is my experience too. I had been putting them in the case when not using them, and even after trying a factory reset, they were draining 1% per hour in the case. This afternoon I left them out of the case as a test and in 6 hours they haven’t budged a single percent yet.

I‘d love to know where you found it. Don’t have my APM yet but would gladly do this to avoid battery drain.
Sorry for the late reply to this - just saw it perusing this thread again! So, on your Mac, make sure you're connected to the APMs. Then, go to Bluetooth Preferences in System Preferences. Click on your APMs in the list and an "Options" button should become available. Click that and under "Connect tot this Mac", select "When Last Connected to This Mac" and that should stop the Mac from automatically connecting to your APMs.
