Question: does the W1 chip pairing only work on the iPhone (which then adds it to the cloud)? I don't have an iPhone, so I have to go into the BT settings on my iPad to pair and connect.

Ipad pairing should also be a breeze via the Airpod's W1 chip. It'll save it to icloud so you won't need to manually pair it every time. It'll auto-connect seamlessly after the initial pairing.

That's odd since the airpod pop up never appeared.

You may need to discover them via the Bluetooth settings initially. Try disabling/enabling Bluetooth. If that doesn't work, hold down the button on the back until they appear on the Bluetooth devices list.

The initial pairing may be a bit fiddly in ipad as compared to iphone, but once they're paired, they should auto-connect every time (unless you also have a non-Apple device you wish to use them with - this can sometimes screw things up & may require rediscovering....i've found this after pairing to my PC & then wanting to go back to my iphone/ipad).

Also, that pop-up is iphone only...

Re-pairing to ipad after initial pairing will be evidenced by the tone in the Airpods & the headphone indicator in the status bar, next to the battery percentage/indicator.

It doesn't auto connect unless the AirPods were last paired to my iPad. I have select the iPods through control centre. It's very quick and much better than going through settings every time.

That's right.

Shyam09 didn't indicate any other devices, so I answered thinking the ipad was the only device.

Ok. Even though they don't auto connect in the way Apple showed at the iPhone keynote, they are still by and and far the best Bluetooth earphones I've ever used.

Ι only hope Airpods 2 to have noise cancelation.....thats the reason i sold them. Very poor quality on noisy places.

With foam covers it does a much better job of blocking outside noises, but still nothing compared to true noise isolation or active cancellation. It is enough that I can mow my yard and hear music clearly (volume is turned up high).

I doubt it. That would result in much poorer battery life and much higher cost. If noise is an issue I'd look for something with passive noise blocking like iem's.

Has anyone ever found a solution to the AirPods losing audio from the MBP? My AirPods have no problems staying connected to my iPhone, iPad, or iMac, but they can't seem to go for more than 15-20 minutes without losing audio on my 2015 MBP. It's a real PITA because I use my MBP a lot and really want to be able to use my headphones.

Nope, I've watch a 2+ hour movie with my airpods.

And on an other note, I droppped one yesterday.
By accident.
Into my coffee. :eek::eek::eek:

Had it in a piece of paper towel, put it in a little bag of rice overnight, just in case. Works fine, no issues whatsoever. Apparently they are able to live through a 30 minute washing cycle. Mine survived a 5 second submersion in coffee :D

awesome as office headphones and bt headset
kinda suck as fitness headphones - my ears are big, and these things are falling off, and its hard to use siri to tweak volume, while you run - so i`m still with old jaybird x2 for this usecase

soundwise they are ok - but nothing stellar

but i keep coming back to them, maybe due to this apple "just works" magic

Yeah, they're more pronounced, for lack of better term. I noticed the improvement in sound straight away. Bass may be the stand out.
What EQ, if any, do you guys use.I'm using Jazz at the moment but Late Night seems to produce the loudest sound.

Mine's on flat.

I tend to treat EQ on my iPhone like picture quality enhancements on my TV - artificial & taking away from the natural source of the thing I should be hearing/viewing.

Fair enough.....and there are just so many EQs to choose from:)

I love mine :D

I also can use them for guided meditations that I listen to, when there are noise around.
It wasn't so pleasant with other headphones. AirPods are so light I hardly feel they are there.

I might even get it to work between Siri & me, finally. She never understands me.
I'm giving her a new chance.

I’ve recently rejoined a gym and was looking for some headphones to use while working out. I tried out several options and finally settled on both the Soundsport Pulse and the Powerbeats3. At first I thought I could use either of those in the office or just to take phone calls but that proved to be difficult when my phone rang and I wasn’t wearing the headphones or when I was listening to music and my coworkers were talking to me from behind or from their desk. I reluctantly decided to try out the airpods because a local Best Buy had them available. I’ve used them for three days out of the week I’ve owned them and I will say that they are VERY convenient in allowing me to play music without worrying that I won’t hear my colleagues. Also, I like that I can put one in and watch YouTube while I’m in the bathroom .

Just got off of a long chat session with apple support. Seems that the issue is that "some" users who have AirPods and an Apple Watch or other bluetooth device paired are experiencing the issues with phone connection issue. My chat was submitted to engineering and I was assured there will be a fix. It blows me away this wasn't caught in the initial tests. I can confirm that calls work fine when I put my watch in airplane mode. That is definitely the issue!

I am not having an issue with my iPhone/ Watch /Airpods ... but since PB 6 (DP 7), the handoff option of answering a call on my iMac no longer works... will try the airplane mode on my Watch to see if it's the same kind of issue.

UPDATE: I just tested this and putting my Watch in airplane mode does not resolve my issue.
