Everything is great except Siri is hard to trigger. Dunno if I have. A bad set. Takes 5 tries sometimes

Same here, it seems it's a known issue. Double-tapping hard multiple times gives me ear ache and just seems bad design. Plus Siri is slow/sucks so I just use airpods as if Siri didn't exist, still awesome product.

Try tapping in an upwards/forward direction on your earlobe instead. Surprisingly effective.

New owner here, I have the same issue (iOS 11 PB3, AirPod firmware 3.7.2). I wanted to increase volume by 10%, instead got volume at 10%. No big deal as I gambled on 60% being what I wanted and it turned out perfectly.

Yeah it's best to say the percentage of volume you desire.

Someone can correct me, but I believe increments of 5%(??) are triggered with the "Turn it up/down" command.

Unless I misunderstood, Siri works when locked.

*********

Ok, weird issue funnily enough with Siri..."Increase/Decrease Volume" commands haven't worked all day, yet when you say things like "Turn it up/Down" or "Set volume 80%" it works fine.

Is this a bug from the recent IOS update I wonder???
My bad,
I have the setting "Allow Siri When Locked" disabled to prevent anyone picking up my phone and going to town with voice commands, unfortunately you have to have that setting enabled in order for Siri to work on the EarPods.

Ok. Siri's meant to have a voice detection security setting that prevents others from using it. Not sure how well it works. May be worth testing it out to put your mind at ease.

I also have this problem, with my iPhone5s(iOS 10.3.2), the iPhone put in my pocket of my jeans and connecting AirPods, when I walk out on the street, playing music sometimes out or loose signal, this kind of problem can happen randomly. That's unbelievable and unacceptable!

Pretty happy with them. My only complaint is along with a lot of others they are in need of more touch commands that would make their functionality comparable with the wired inline remote.

With my Earbuds I have always used either foam covers (for everyday use) or Earhoox (for exercise). When these were first announced I had decided to get them right away because I like how the stock Earbuds fit but I hate the wires. I thought there would be no way that the foam covers that I use would work as they are a pain to get on. I just wasn't going to be taking them on and off. I had used them for a day stock then today decided to try the foam covers. I thought I'd have two problems. 1. I thought the IR sensor wouldn't work and 2. I thought they wouldn't fit in the case. I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong on both accounts. They turn on and off when inserting/removing them and they fit in the case and the lid closes all the way. One of the reasons I use foam covers is to keep them more securely in my ears but the Airpods seem to fit very well. But another great benefits is the increase in sound quality. Having that little bit of seal increases bass and overall sound that would normally leak away.

Thanks for the post. Where did you get those foams from? The ones I got tear so easily when applying them to Airpods.

I don't think that's the point. You can read my posts and it have some tests and official result.

Just curious, but when the signal starts to deteriorate, are you amongst a lot of people, or a lot of stores, or both? You should try to get your unit replaced.

It happened both of them that you mentioned, no matter people crowd or not. I had tested at local Apple Store, used lot devices from genius support (AirPods connect iPhone5s/SE/6s/7).All of them happen this situation! You can check details from my post:https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...eadset-including-airpods-lose-signal.2058309/

Is this normal? My right AirPod seam isn't Flush like my left one. In fact it stands out a lot in person.

I am not sure but I think now after months of use the Airpods are draining the battery faster. Specially when I use it in my PC. They are supposed to last how long, anyway?

P.S. I already tried resetting, didn't work. Is there a way to measure this accurately to see if they are really having battery issues?

They should last "five hours". Charge them fully and listen to music for hours or five times one hour or something like that?

Edit. five hours

Does that mean if I try to listen in any app it should always last 5 hours regardless of the content?

One thing I am also doing is to use that option

In this app:

https://itunes.apple.com/br/app/nplayer-plus-the-best-media-player/id539397400?mt=8

By default Boost shows 100%, I increased because most of contents played need me to listen at 70, 80%. Boost can go to 400%.

I would say 5 hours give or take 15 minutes. If it's say 4 hours and 45 mins that would be good. Battery life will vary depending on things like how far away you are from your device. If you a steaming audio or playing audio saved to the device. There will be some variation in battery life depending on how you use your AirPods.

Volume has a large impact on battery life as well. Calls are worse obviously because of the use of microphone.

Personally I get amazing battery life but I don't use them continuously at a desk, my use case is more typically 2 hours at the gym then back in the case and they're good to go again.

Try listening to locally stored music without the app you mentioned. If you get about five hours from a full charge you are good to go.

Had an issue today where I use the Right AirPod for conference calls and used Skype on iPhone and it was fully 1005 charged at the beginning of the call and it lasted 1hr 30min and the Pod drained to 10%. Very odd.

All the software appears to be uptodate and had these frequently charged and drained as normal.

The subject has probably been done to death but: do AirPods objectively sound better than EarPods?

Not too odd. Up to 5 hours on listening and up to 2 hours talk time. I do get approx. 1:45 on FaceTime Audio calls.

15 minute charge gives you another hour talk time.
I had been on a longer road trip and was on the phone for over 3 hours. Just plug in the other left AirPod at the low battery warning. The call will be on both. Take the right one out and put into the charging case. This is seamless and the party on the other end didn't notice anything.

This will allow approx. 15 hours of continuous talk time with a fully charged case! That's better than any of the many dedicated Bluetooth headset for phone calls I ever owned (Plantronics, Bose ...). At the same time the call quality is better too.

I've had my AirPods for a week so far, with 3 workouts. I previously had the Powerbeats2 wireless. Here's my review between the two.

My issues with the Powerbeats2 wireless - they weren't really wireless, they had a cord connecting each earpiece to the other. No other cord though. They're a lot nicer than corded headphones, but still had the snag issue. I'd put the cord around the back of my neck, and most of the time that was good. Occasionally, me twisting a certain way, or sweat would cause them to pull a little. Never had the headphones come off, but that's because they had the around the ear hook.

So, I had no problem with the Powerbeats2 ever coming off. I thought I'd have an issue with the AirPods falling out, since the wired ones fell out of my ear. No such issue! My typical workout is working out with weights for 55 minutes, then 40-45 minutes on the elliptical. The AirPods never fell out or even felt like they would. I think the EarPod cord causes tension to pull them out.

Battery life? The Powerbeats2 had a battery life of 6-8 hours. Not enough for a complete week (my workouts take 8-10 hours a week), so I had to charge them twice a week. Plus, there was no indicator of how much battery life was left. A few times late in workouts, the battery would die. But I wouldn't know 2 hours before. No indicator until about 15 minutes left. You can check the AirPods anytime. Plus, the 'real' battery life of the AirPods is about 24 hours as long as you don't leave them in constantly. I just use mine for my workouts of 90-120 minutes, then put them back in their case for the next day. I don't need to charge them with a cable for about 3 weeks!

Instant-on for the AirPods are so much nicer too. I had to hold the power down to start the Powerbeats2. Not much different, but took a little longer for the Powerbeats2, and wasn't as reliable. Additionally, sometimes I would turn off the Powerbeats2, but they really wouldn't turn off, and the battery was dead the next day. No such issue with the AirPods. They're off while in the case.

Anything worse? Only thing I do NOT like on the AirPods is Siri. When I was gardening, listening to music, Siri would be accidentally enabled. So I turned it off and went to double-tap to pause my music.

The only other thing is a plus and a minus. You can hear the outside world clearer. Without the music on, I can leave the AirPods in and talk with someone. With the music on, at half-volume, it drowns out the music in the gym. You can't hear any music at all when doing something like mowing the lawn, it lets too much sound in. But that's both a good and a bad thing. My PowerBeats2 is similar. It muffles a little more, but one of the reasons I liked it was because I could hear things going on, and that's important if you're outside. I want to hear all the car honks and noise. I have a Beats over-the-ear noise cancelling headphones for work, because there, I want complete silence from co-workers and office noise. I would NOT want gym or workout headphones to be the same.

What do I LOVE? Phone calls. I can take out my right AirPod, use my phone to answer a call and hear it in my left ear. Awesome! It works GREAT with my Apple Watch. Volume control there is outstanding. Since I have volume control on my watch, I don't mind that it's not on the AirPods. In fact, I had volume control on my Powerbeats2, but I rarely used it, like maybe once a month. It was so much more convenient to do by phone or watch, because I could change tracks and see what I was listening to there as well.

Overall I love my Airpods, and my Powerbeats2 are history.

Great review. I use my Airpods when mowing the lawn (mine and my neighbors, so, about 2.5 miles of walking in the hot sun), I think over the entire summer I only have activated the double tap accidentally once. I noticed it was when I was scratching my earlobe.

So my suggestion is you can leave Siri enabled, but you will notice you will eventually work around activating Siri. It really does take a distinct double tap of the Airpods/earlobe.

When I am pushing the Airpods further in, I put my middle finger on the Airpod and use pointer finger and thumb to stretch my ear back while applying pressure to the Airpod. If I try to do this any other way, I may inadvertently activate the double tap feature.
