I usually keep my iPhone 7 Plus in my messenger bag, which is slung over my back. So the signal has to go through my bag and my back and I never experience drop outs.

It could be that the 7 Plus simply has more powerful BT radios, of course. Or maybe I'm more radio transparent. Or maybe you walk in either areas that are extremely open (no surfaces for the BT radio signals to bounce off of), or where radio interference is far greater.

Could be a lot of things. Even the Airpods, of course.

I just tried connecting them to my back-up iPhone 5S and the BT radio seems to be stronger on that device when compared to my iPhone 6. Will try using the 5S when I'm walking to work on Monday (that's when I notice it the most).

My AirPods cuts out when I walk past the security checkpoint at wotk...

Which phone do you have? When I walk around the Oculus near WTC in New York, the signal cuts in and out like crazy. Most likely all of the commuters.

Picked me up some airpods yesterday afternoon after a lot of hesitation. Primarily bought them for running. I got to say I am very pleasantly surprised with them. I bought them with a leap of faith.

The ease of use, and my god the sound quality are brilliant. Went for a run this morning with them and they stayed in no problem so I got to say I'm over the moon with them.

Yea, I love mine. Fantastic little bit of technology that Apple has made. No wires what so ever, good audio quality, great battery life with the case, extremely quick to charge.
To me, its one of those typical Apple products that just blends in with your other devices, and just seems to work.
Couldn't be happier!
Noticed you have a watch...I just ordered mine and they should be here on Thursday. I was wondering if the digital crown on Apple Watch automatically adjusts volume when listening to Airpods if you turn it? Like without going into the music app on the watch, if I just turn the crown will it change the volume?

Thanks

They don't stay in my ear, the sound quality is sub-par at best (coming from Shure SE535s that was expected), and the reception is terrible from my Late 2012 rMBP (constant lag and stuttering) - so no, I am not a happy camper.
Sell them on eBay for list price, you'll break even. Then you're done!

The crown volume adjustment only works while in the music app or in "now playing".

Bit disappointed they do not play automatically from the device you hit play from. Even my 70€ Sony earphones were able to do it

I'm not sure I understand this. How would they know you want to play from your computer/phone/watch without actually connecting them to it? If you are connected to a device, and hit play, it will play sounds from that device. If you aren't connected to the device, how would the airpods know to connect?

Your sony earphones much connect to multiple devices at once to pull this off.

They are. Granted, only 3 devices at a time

Ah. Airpods will only connect to one device at a time. You have to remember they are just about the size of regular earphones without any wires. The purpose of the W1 chip is to handle connecting to other apple devices by simply having them close to the device as you open the container. Consider Airpods as a device in your ears ONLY when you are actively listening to music, or connected to your phone waiting for/talking on a call. As soon as you open the container to get the earphone, it connects to the closest device (or the last device you connected to).

I wouldn't complain if it could connect to multiple devices, but I don't really see a need, if it will take away from battery life.

Im having this issue. When I switch music off and let's say start YouTube or safari with some audio/video I hear some crackle or puc sound before It starts playing then when playing everything normal. When playing music or during call no problems just when starting: something Like invoke siri or before music starts.
Iphone7 btw and 3.7.2 firmware airpods, Apple Watch series 2.
I tried forget Airpods on iPhone, then I hold 15sec back Button on Airpods case to restart it, restarted iPhone too AND then pair, but same thing...
Is this normal or what?

I'm having issues with mine atm. I'm now on my third pair of AirPods. - The first stopped working and were replaced (3 separate packages from Apple )

What I cannot do though, is sync them together. When both pods are in the case, I get an orange flashing light and regardless of what I do I can't get it to work. Now I can sync each AirPod individually by having just one in the case at a time, but as soon as they are both in there, nada.

Has anyone else had this issue? It's stumped the Apple techs and like I said this is now my second replacement set. Am I just being stupid? I've spent HOURS on the phones and chat to specialists. I just can't believe I'm having this much agro over SOME HEADPHONES

I'm assuming every time they've gotten replaced by Apple, you're getting two new headphones (one L one R) and the battery case?

Have you tried syncing to a different non-Apple BT device, like your computer or a different telephone?

Does your case light white after you push and hold down the button on the back of the case when both L and R headphones are inside?

My issue is that they do not consistently work for phone calls. I have a Genius Bar appt tonight. I can listen to music, podcasts and such just fine, but it's hit and miss if they will work for a phone call. It's nearly impossible to start a call on the iPhone and put either of the AirPods in my ear and have them pick up the call. Very frustrating. I've resorted to carrying my old Motorola hint if I need to use my earpiece for calls.

Yes definitely go to the appt. mine are extremely reliable for phone calls. AirPods are by far the best Bluetooth headset I've ever used and I've used quite a few.

Correct. 3 separate packages of the 3 components. I don't currently have anything 'non-Apple' to try and sync to. I'll try and find someone at work!

The case does not light white after pushing the button with both headphones in. It just stays pulsing orange. This is the second 'replacement' pair that I have this issue with. I just can't work out what I'm doing wrong!
As soon as I take 1 earphone out and press the button, it works as expected and flashes white and syncs. I can even then swap out the earphones and sync again (though it comes up as 'another' BT device.)

I just picked up a set today and so far they seem pretty good, ease of setup was almost guaranteed and love the case. Tap to pause seems temperamental although getting better.
Would have liked Siri but as siri when locked is disabled that was a non-starter.
Look forward to using them across iphone, watch, ipad and mac.

I received 2 new AirPods and a case. I had the left one(new) in my ear and when I received a call, I still couldn't get it to connect. I can't understand why they will not reliably work on a phone call!! So frustrating.

Unless I misunderstood, Siri works when locked.

Ok, weird issue funnily enough with Siri..."Increase/Decrease Volume" commands haven't worked all day, yet when you say things like "Turn it up/Down" or "Set volume 80%" it works fine.

Is this a bug from the recent IOS update I wonder???

New owner here, I have the same issue (iOS 11 PB3, AirPod firmware 3.7.2). I wanted to increase volume by 10%, instead got volume at 10%. No big deal as I gambled on 60% being what I wanted and it turned out perfectly.

Other than that, I'm shocked at how fast they charge in the case - I know the battery isn't massive but still, I was using them for about 2 hours and that took the battery down to 48%, they were fully charged almost before I'd finished eating my breakfast.

I'm also pretty pleased at the quality, and how well they fit in my ear. It would be easy to forget they were there :D Waiting on Amazon to deliver some accessories now :)

Everything is great except Siri is hard to trigger. Dunno if I have. A bad set. Takes 5 tries sometimes

Same here, it seems it's a known issue. Double-tapping hard multiple times gives me ear ache and just seems bad design. Plus Siri is slow/sucks so I just use airpods as if Siri didn't exist, still awesome product.
