What’s your experience after the update? I noticed a strong decrease in the power of anc. Now it cuts about 20db. So disappointed.

There a more solid way to understand if the anc has worsened or not.

With Apple Watch and AirPods with ANC on, you can measure how many DB the ANC is cutting.

Before the update is something about 30.
After the update is 22.

All the other feedback are sensation, placebo, etc.

I’d be great if someone could performe this test as well.

Are you saying you can hear the difference (not just going off the visual data on the Apple Watch?) & did you notice it worsen BEFORE OR AFTER you checked your Apple Watch, post-update?

There's always the possibility Apple tweaked the App because the "-30dB" reading pre-update wasn't an accurate representation of what ANC was actually doing.

So after this latest update on APP 2 5B58, ANC IS WORSE.. In the noise app in watch, it used to cut around 30db of noise whereas after the update it now cuts only 20db of noise. Also the fact that i can notice the reduction of ANC in the same environment with unchanged noice factors prooves it!

@Ralfi Exactly this.
It’s a shame for a 299€ product!!!!

Well there goes the excellent ANC on my only one month old AirPods pro 2. I guess my AirPods Max continue on as the undisputed ANC champ.

Are you confirming what the OP has suggested or tongue in cheek?

Really can't understand the poll results.
When a firmware uograde broke something it's for everyone.

I suspect most of people didn't notice anything just based on post-update sensation.

Other people confirm my findings: via watch you can see a cut of 22db, where before was around 30. It's a 25% reduction!

It really depends on the use I guess.
I mostly have it on when I’m on walks, otherwise the ANC could be more distracting than useful.
For me the panning sound issue was really annoying. Since I can’t notice any other differences other than that issue is fixed, my experience overall is better after the update.

I tried the video below played on my HomePod mini 50% volume and the Apple Watch with AirPods reported 25db reduction, unfortunately I didn’t tried before the update.

Overall I’m not noticing any downgrade in anc on my environment

My cut now is about 22. 25 is somehow better 😊

Before it was around 30.

If you check rtings website they tested a 21db reduction in AirPods Pro 1. Considering that APP2 are claimed to be 2x more powerful in noise cancelling than the previous model..

Do you understand the dB scale? I have to admit that I don’t. I know that it is logarithmic and half the dB doesn’t mean half the volume.

Audio level expressed in dB is actually pretty easy to understand. Every time there is a change by 3dB, the level has either doubled or halved depending on whether you went up by 3dB or down by 3.

If you are listening to audio that measures 0dB for instance and you increase to 6dB, the volume will have increased by a factor of 2x. A level of -3dB would be half of the volume from 0dB.

The thing is people needs to be sensitive enough for the difference, but i can feel it, in my gym i know the kinds of sounds that never used to oass through the anc and now they are then i i went cand confirmed on my apple watch and there it is, before it used to be 30db and now it is 20db

Can we as consumers around the world, spending our hard earned money for the apple quality do something about it? I mean this is cheating, we bought it because of the good performance now they are reducing performance because of the update. I also have the APP 1 and its ANC is destroyed! I mean it used to be magic before and now after every update its going to drain! Its not the placebo i know because a lot of people including me are feeling this. When I bought the 1st gen it was wow i know the kind of sounds it masked and now after 2 years it’s literally ****! I mean there is literally very minor difference between ANC on and ANC off and now this started with gen2. This is actually cheating!! If they are doing this because of that copyright patent issue, then dont sell these products…or reduce the price…. Or inform people!! Dont cheat.. Is there a way we all can get together on Change.org or somewhere to get them to either restore the ANC back to its prior glory or return our money back on grounds of cheating.
Otherwise people who are in denial right now its cutting 20db ( which ised to be 30db before), it will be cutting 7db and u will still feel its the same and thats placebo🥹. And then it will be too late to do anything 😞

The db i am giving is from apple watch but if you feel that its unreliable then you can’t ignore the fact, that is the feeling which is a lot of people around the world are getting that the ANC is reduced. There are lot of people who were buying the product since the beginning and they can see and feel the difference because that’s what they do and I give a lot of attention to details and I can experience and feel even miniature differences around my environment and in the things I use that’s why I am feeling this and I can say this that ANC is definitely reduced.

And yet only 17% of people here of an admittedly small sample size think that ANC has been worsened by the update. So, 83% (of which more than 17% think it actually got better :D) have bad ears, fall for „placebo“ or just don‘t care enough, simply because it doesn’t match with your own experience and your Apple Watch numbers, right?
