And yet only 17% of people here of an admittedly small sample size think that ANC has been worsened by the update. So, 83% (of which more than 17% think it actually got better :D) have bad ears, fall for „placebo“ or just don‘t care enough, simply because it doesn’t match with your own experience and your Apple Watch numbers, right?
Try the noise app on apple watch.. Also option 2 is that Ignorance is bliss 😂

I’d like to know how many who voted have an Apple Watch.

Not saying this is the case for all, but I feel there’s some placebo effect happening here, especially for those using the Apple Watch App.

Can we as consumers around the world, spending our hard earned money for the apple quality do something about it? I mean this is cheating, we bought it because of the good performance now they are reducing performance because of the update. I also have the APP 1 and its ANC is destroyed! I mean it used to be magic before and now after every update its going to drain! Its not the placebo i know because a lot of people including me are feeling this. When I bought the 1st gen it was wow i know the kind of sounds it masked and now after 2 years it’s literally ****! I mean there is literally very minor difference between ANC on and ANC off and now this started with gen2. This is actually cheating!! If they are doing this because of that copyright patent issue, then dont sell these products…or reduce the price…. Or inform people!! Dont cheat.. Is there a way we all can get together on Change.org or somewhere to get them to either restore the ANC back to its prior glory or return our money back on grounds of cheating.
Otherwise people who are in denial right now its cutting 20db ( which ised to be 30db before), it will be cutting 7db and u will still feel its the same and thats placebo🥹. And then it will be too late to do anything 😞
Is it possible to use the Noise app on the Apple watch to measure decibels while using APP 1 and/or AirPods Max? Or is this feature limited to APP 2?

There a more solid way to understand if the anc has worsened or not.

With Apple Watch and AirPods with ANC on, you can measure how many DB the ANC is cutting.

Before the update is something about 30.
After the update is 22.

All the other feedback are sensation, placebo, etc.

I’d be great if someone could performe this test as well.
Worse. Was >30 now as little as 10dB.

Even worse - wife watching TV in bed, all of the voices sail right through.

incredible. I'll just send my unit back to repair this morning. Probably they'll swap. Don't know what to expect.

Do a test or two which you could reproduce after repair, to have a compare as it’s possible they will give you old FW :)

I swapped in store. Will report back.
I’m charging overnight.

Also note both units were made in China, not Vietnam as I incorrectly stated.

I’ll let everyone know when I pair them.
EDIT 1 - firmware was 5A377.
EDIT 2 - ANC was stronger (-15-22dB) but not as much as I originally thought.

That's awful.
My unit (that in its way to be replaced) measure cancel -22db.
Now i'm hoping to receive something that is not worst than that value otherwise i'll be force to sell it (with a huge loss o money).

Has anyone here called Apple Support to see what they say & if they have any official news on the update adjusting the Noise Cancellation?

Hmm, so those who say NC got worse, did they clean the mesh?

I don’t think I’ve seen that link before & didn’t know Apple officially recommended people to clean the mesh.
Apple doesn't know about it, because it hasn't gotten worse - at least not via their latest firmware update.

However, you won't convince anybody who likes to think differently, it seems. It's impossible that +-80% of people either think it stayed the same or got better IF the firmware update had significantly reduced the ANC effectiveness. However, the 20% of people who think it got worse, think that the others either have bad ears, are incapable of noticing the difference for other reasons, or simply don't care enough. Nothing you can do about that. We've seen these "findings" after each and every firmware update in the past few years for all manufacturers, actually. So let them find a solution for a problem that is either not there OR that is there for them but not for firmware related reasons.

What case version are people showing (AirPods Pro 2)?

My old ones were - I thought - 5.11.
New ones? 3.62.1

My unit has already been on status "repaired". I'd hope they swap, but probably they just made a quick clean. Bummer. I'll try if something has changed, otherwise i'll go directly to a store and asking for a swap. No way.
