I received the APP2 yesterday (been using APP1 since a day 1 purchase in 2019). There is no doubt the sound profile is much more full and dynamic. The bass is almost unbelievable and may be the single biggest improvement. These have some oomph even at low volume and will please for hip hop and r and b if that's your cup of tea. ANC improvements are less significant and I don't believe they match the APP1 ANC that was almost overwhelmingly strong and then subsequently weakened with several firmware updates. Transparency continues to be class leading but probably the mode I use least.

On the downside I get hints of very brief static or distortion every now and then across music platforms. Will hope it is resolved via firmware updates.

Overall a worthy upgrade that will make most people happy.
I miss the pre firmware ANC APP1!

APP1 user here and while those are relatively quite good, APP2 takes it to the next level.

The moment I used it, the difference in ANC and music quality was noticeable. The ANC IMO is comparable to around 80% of my Max while the sound had a slightly larger stage with much crisper lows and fuller mids.

A lot of YTers say APP2 is only a slight upgrade so I disagree.

Launch day AirPods Pro 1 user here - after three years of heavy daily use, I was ready for an upgrade. I have a pair of WF-1000XM4s for their bass, but I've always found the AirPods Pro to have better ANC. Most review state otherwise, but in my experience the AirPods Pros have better ANC, and the gen 2 Pros are even better. The low end is fuller; still a little roll-off once you get into the 50Hz range (I have a bass test playlist full of songs with powerful sub-bass beats or accents, in that range) but still, markedly improved over the gen 1s. Even non-bass-heavy stuff like Tool has a lot more impact in the bass region. Love it!
I currently have the Sony earbuds and I am thinking about trying the AirPods Pro two but my may concern is that the Sony just sounds so damn good that I’ll just be disappointed in the sound quality of the AirPods. The base is so good on the Sony when you got the AirPods did it feel like a huge downgrade or was it pretty similar or what?

TBH, the difference is substantial. But I've also got the "Clear Bass" on my WF-1000XM4s turned up to five or six. 🤣 ... The new AirPods Pro do have much better bass than their predecessor, to be sure. And the ANC is vastly superior. I carry my Sonys with me, but the AirPods are the ones I listen to, 95% of the time.

Any other tests with the microphone? With my current gen 1, if I am in the train and have to speak a little softer, the airpods don't pick up my voice well and I have to switch to the handset. Wondering if it'll be any better with the new ones

I haven’t tried that scenario but in the tests that I have done, the noise reduction is much improved on the APP2 microphone.

I was one of those people that returned my air pods early on because the fit wasn’t great for my shrek sized ear canals.

I ended up going Bose qc which I liked but got rid of for the Beats Pro that came out later due to the integration features.

Like my beats for the most part.

I just picked up some air pod pro 2 and holy crap they are good. The anc is insane and they definitely fit better than the original pros. Sound quality is better across the board I feel the low and mid is much improved without high loss.

Huge upgrade. Very impressed so far.

Edit
I just ran a mile and a half and they stayed in my ear perfectly. The original pros did not.

I tested both gen's on an airplane a few days ago and the ANC on the APP2's was substantially better. I could not believe the difference. Extremely happy with the upgrade.

My original APP's have been missing for like ten days. Bought the APP2 yesterday at Costco. Decided to look one last time before opening the new ones and found them under a couch cushion. The originals work fine but I'm debating whether to keep the 2's because I'm constantly having them fall out of my pocket somewhere and the speaker might be a difference maker from the time wasted looking for them.

I thought I had lost my APP1s like 6 mo ago. I spent a few days looking for them but gave up and bought a new pair of APP1s. And then I found my original APP1s 😭. So I have 2 pairs of APP1s and trying to find a justifiable reason to upgrade to the APP2s now. lol.

The new case in the AAP2 has a lanyard eyelet. You might attach a lanyard to see if that helps keep it from falling out. The Incase one has a nice quick connect that makes it easy to bring the loop around something like a belt loop and then connect it to the lanyard hub for a secure connection.
