i had the same issue with my APP. I ordered a new pair. These have no issues, just like my 1. Gen Airpods. ? no more clicking sound just by grabing the case ?‍♂️
Returned the unstable one.

Also had the issue on launch day APP, mentioned it on the first impression thread and got told not to be fussy! Glad it's just not me who thought this was a problem.

I'm also exchanging mine as well. My local Apple store will have them back in stock this week. Way to many people just willing to accept them with imperfections simply because they are Apple.

The tighter the tolerances, the higher the likelyhood of debris jamming the mechanism and causing problems. A Glock pistol has looser tolerances than many custom made pistols and because of that is very reliable.

With all the fine dust, lint, dirt in my pockets, I'm glad there's some free space in the hinge so it doesn't get bound up!

I went into the Apple Store yesterday to get my APPs exchanged for another pair, and the Genius admitted that the wobbly lid wasn't normal. The new pair doesn't have this issue, so if you guys are still in the 14 day return window (you should be as they were only just released) and you have the same issue, I'd get em replaced.

Well, mine flexes from side to side and clicks but i ignored it as it was charging fine and you have to allow for a little tolerance....but this morning, for some strange reason, the lid wouldnt shut properly and after closer investigation, I realised that I now have to wiggle the lid slightly for it to close properly as the hinge at the back of the case is slightly dislodged. No physical damage visible and they hadn't been dropped as my pods had been sat in my home office since last night. I think that the case moving slightly from side to side may have affected the hinge.
Called Apple and asked for an exchange. Two two days of the two week exchange window left so Apple will ship out new Pro's once the courier picks mine up tomorrow.

Pics? Curious to see how bad it got.

I would do but dropped off at a UPS point a couple of hours ago for pick up tomorrow as I will be at work. The movement was quite bad. Initially, there was just a slight movement on the case lid with a clicking sound and i didn't really worry about it as I just accepted that it was within tolerences.
But today, movement was quite prominent and the metal hinge at the back was coming away from the case. I think it was caused by the case lid sliding slightly each time i opened the lid and putting pressure on the hinge. I remember that for my Gen 1 and Gen 2's, the lid was rock solid with no movement at all.
When I spoke to Apple support, they said that they hadn't heard of any issues with cases and that it would be difficult to return for an inspection and repair as they don't repair cases and suggested that I book an appointment with a genius for further inspection and an exchange. I declined and as it was an online order they put me through to sales for a swop out.

Finally made it back to the Apple store tonight to exchange my APP and my new are perfect. As soon as I told the girl I wanted to exchange my APP she said “let me guess, because of the lid on the case?” She told me 90% of the returns/exchanges they are receiving are because of the same issue and asked me to open the new pair while I was there to make sure they were ok.

Took mine to the Milton Keynes Apple store. The guy claimed it was the first AirPods pros they had in and had never heard of the case issue before.

agreed it wasn’t right and exchanged there and then for a new case, they had these in stock. I did not want a complete new pair as it was just the case.

still a little bit of play in the lid but seems normal like AirPods2, they also let me check their own personal pros case and his had a little play too but no clicking. I was happy to have these for now, not perfect as there is that 1mm of play but much better than before.

Much happier with these now, very good pair of all-round wireless buds.

Anyone able to get a new case or get a brand new APP after 14-day return period? I think the case should be covered under warranty isn’t it? I started to get annoy with clicking noise this should not happen for $250 product.

Waiting for my replacement AirPods to arrive and if the case is still not right Then I should go to an Apple Store and insist on opening every box until I find one that’s right. I’m not having another set malfunction on me

I think they might be as when I went to the Apple store last night it wasn’t as busy as it normally is and I was greeted at the front. The girl asked me how she could help me and I told her. She said some play is normal but with the clicking she pointed me to the correct table to make the exchange at. I was a little puzzled and told her if they weren’t going to exchanged them I would just return them. She was like oh, you’re still in the 14 day window, never mind then.

There’s a slight side to side play on mine, but nothing to worry about.

Went to the Apple store today and since I was out of 14 days they couldn't give me a brand new ones.
They had cases in stock and all 3 he opened were literally way worse than mine lmao, so I kept mine, this guy was surprised as well.

Decided to keep mine but replacing the earphones themselves because people having trouble on hearing me when on the phone calls.

Does anybody know if they come refurbished or actually new?

I just settled about the fact that I have AC+ on them and if something were to happen with the case in the next few years, I’ll just bring it back.
